Just saw Jolly is out with a knee injury, doesn't sound serious & Wood will be the only change this week but it does make one a little nervous for the longer term. If there was one person I would want to stay sound, it is Jolly.

fortunately for u lads its April...

That is somewhat of the worry, only 3 games in does that mean we will be nursing him through the rest of the season?

The recruiting of Jolly was a master stroke and had a huge impact on us winning the Premiership, but the lack of a good ruckmen cost us a flag in 2008 even if we were not the best side I'd hate for it to happen again now that we are.

All precautionary I think. Wasn't there an article a while ago about resting players?

Cam Wood needs game time in case he actually does go down, so I'm calling it team management. Unless we think it is a coincidence it is against Richmond....

I'm hoping Os, I like the optimism & Richmond makes sense. We just don't need the big fella's knee causing us any grief.

I am looking forward to seeing Woodsy back in the ruck, he really put in a hard slog in 2009. I  think he is underrated. He basically had to play the same role as Reno for the Hawks and stand up on his own with hectic TOG. On the downside I have Jolly in my DT giving him a chance, and after 3 rounds of crap scores(not underestimating him as a player by any means) I traded him out for Coxy.

AGAIN!!

Darren Jolly, Shaun Higgins in doubt for Sunday twilight game
Source: Herald Sun website - dated 28 April 2011

COLLINGWOOD ruckman Darren Jolly and Bulldogs forward Shaun Higgins could be missing when the Pies and Dogs name their teams for Sunday's twilight game.

Magpies coach Mick Malthouse said today Jolly was doubtful with a knee injury.

The dual-premiership ruckman missed Collingwood's Round 4 win against Richmond with a knee problem but returned to play a starring role on Anzac Day.

Cameron Wood filled in for Jolly against the Tigers and would be the logical replacement if he misses again.

Meanwhile, Higgins pulled up sore after the Bulldogs' narrow loss to Fremantle on Monday night and appears an unlikely starter at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Tom Williams, who suffered back spasms in Perth, is also in doubt while Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade confirmed full-forward Barry Hall (ankle) will not play.

The Dogs are set to take a conservative approach with injured forward Daniel Giansiracusa (hamstring) and won't rush him back this week.

Eade said his players were "too Hall conscious" against the Dockers and his loss would have a positive side-effect in creating more flexibility in the forward line.

He said Mitch Wallis would definitely play after a tough initiation as the substitute in his debut.

No one minds if Jolly misses a game or two but when you join the dots you can see the Pies might have a problem.

He is arguably the most important (ie irreplaceable) person in the team so let's hope that huge medical team are able to manage him through the season. The worry is that it is only round 6! I know a bye will assist but it's September (yes & October) where the Pies need him fully firing.

the pies should still win though its their ruckman but their midfield is playing well

Plus the Dogs #1 ruck is out also, along with Hall and Higgins.

To his credit it sounds like Wood had a good game which is very important although he wasn't up against much.

With Jolly likely to miss the Geelong game, I'm hoping with Ottens in form we don't revisit the 2007 prelim situation.

Minson smashed Wood in hitouts, with finals already inevitable they should forget now and get Jolly right for them...

Early Minson had the better of Wood, but Wood really worked himself into the game around the groun, I was quite encouraged really.

Having said that, I'd like to test out the big bodied Keefe.

me too he is my 4th ruck in SC :P liked the look of him in preseason down back he is a massive agile bloke

Not sure if he is a genuine ruckman. He is probably more a back-up for Leigh Brown playing the dual role and let's face it, his shoes are becoming bigger every week to fill.  Amazing.
