This is so shower, terrible news for us if this turns out to be the end for Daniel Bradshaw.

Was bad enough to lose our best defender last week, but if you throw in our best forward as well, makes it harder on guys like Goodes and the younger brigade of Reid, White, TDL etc who may now have to cover him for the entire season not just a few games.

Bradshaw was never sounds even his his final years at Brisbane so its difficult to try and build anything around him. Tough luck for him as he is a likeable guy but unusually poor recruiting from the Swans.

Guess it could have been worse, you could have gone for Fev!

roo boys!

Let's hope he can return sooner rather than later, as he is very important to the Swans.

See, told you so!!

Sam Reid, nominated for the Rising star this week. Could not kick straight to save himself, but some of the marks he took this week were really really impressive.

Hobbled Bradshaw calls time on a stellar career

SYDNEY Swans forward Daniel Bradshaw has called an end to his 231-game career.

The 32-year-old was granted leave by the Swans earlier this month to decide whether he wanted to continue his rehabilitation from his latest knee operation - a procedure to release the iliotibial band in May.

He struggled with knee and hamstring problems last season, his first at the Swans, and had been unable to train since February this year before the most recent operation.

Bradshaw played 222 games for the Brisbane Lions, including the 2001 and 2003 premierships, between 1996 and 2009 before he left the club disgruntled after being used as trade bait in the negotiations with Carlton regarding Brendan Fevola.

He was picked up by the Swans in the 2010 NAB AFL Pre-season Draft but was largely restricted by his body in his first season in red and white.

"Daniel has been a genuine star of the competition during his career,'' Swans coach John Longmire told sydneyswans.com.au.

"Even though he played only nine games with the club since we recruited him from the Lions, we have absolutely no regrets about the decision. Despite his knee problems, he made a real contribution to the Swans after coming to us in the pre-season draft.

"When we were coaching against him, the combination of Daniel, Jonathan Brown and Alastair Lynch in the Brisbane forward line was always an enormous challenge," Longmire said.

"Even at the end of his career, his enormous talent was evident in that semi-final against the Bulldogs when he took nine marks even though he had been on the sidelines for three months.

"Everyone at the Swans wishes Daniel and his family all the best for his life after football."

He will hold a press conference at 9.30am AEST today.

Pity we didn't get to see his best at the Bloods but 'such is life' ... wish him well for the future.
