Our second video episode went off without a hitch… well, the audio needs work, but we’re getting there!
At least this week we got both sides of the conversation on the video version! We start, after a brief musical interlude to start the show, by discussing the big issue of the week, the attack on Dream Team by Fairfax columnist Richard Hinds. M0nty relates some of his own frustrations with the anti-fantasy culture at Fairfax, and Molly gives his thoughts of what the reasoning behind the hatchet job might have been.
Onto the footy! From the Collingwood win over Essendon, Dayne Beams and Steele Sidebottom are important fantasy rookies with the potential to start in round 1. Scott Pendlebury copped a tag, putting his premium credentials under the microscope. Anthony Corrie disappointed yet again, leaving the door open for younger guns Brent Macaffer and Brad Dick. For the Bombers, Jason Winderlich impressed again, while the boys discuss Brent Stanton‘s claims at graduating to become a top-shelf premium fantasy midfielder. Hayden Skipworth had a shocker after quarter time but Molly isn’t worried, while m0nty still doesn’t like Courtenay Dempsey.
Speaking of constantly injured players, Paul Chapman teased us with some huge numbers in the Saturday night game. Harry Taylor produced some impressive stat lines himself, while Josh Hunt did nothing wrong in his bid to become part of an unsettled Cats back six. Shaun Grigg continues to rack up Dream Team points for the Blues, while the solid out for Brad Fisher in the Brendan Fevola role makes the boys wonder about the tall forward structure and how Cameron Cloke and Matthew Kreuzer fit in down at Cardboard Park. One bloke who won’t fit in for a while is Robert Warnock who has been placed on the long-term injury list, which means hot early fantasy tip Chris Yarran may have to contend with Jefferey Garlett for a small forward spot, while Sam Jacobs‘s chances for an elevation just improved markedly.
Over at Port, Wade Thompson is now the front runner to take the open elevation spot on the Power’s list, while Nathan Krakouer, Shaun Burgoyne, Peter Burgoyne and Jason Davenport all posted excellent Dream Team numbers in the NAB Challenge match against North Melbourne. Meanwhile, Adelaide coach Neil Craig has backed in both Trent Hentschel and Jarrhan Jacky for round 1. Bradd Dalziell has been the hottest fantasy scorer in the 2009 preseason, while Jed Adcock has not been doing much wrong either in what could be a banner year for Brisbane players in general for fantasy purposes. At Fremantle, Byron Schammer snagged the best DT score of the week playing in the proto-Derby, while Shane Tuck topped production for the Tigers. Mitchell Brown scored heavily playing much of the game on Pav at centre half back, leading m0nty to wonder if he’s set to pass Jarrad Grant in popularity on fantasy forward benches. Finally, Molly prognosticates on the last year of Jason Akermanis.

All well and good monty, and I applaud that you’re trying new things but those of us who liked to download the show to listen to on ipods etc and don’t have video capabilities its a bit of a downer. Is there any way to just get the audio that I’m missing?
If not, is there any chance of going back to only audio, I can’t imagine that the pictures really add that much to what was great beforehand, a show based on audio, not video.

Jarrhan Jacky i think is only their until the porpus comes up. Concern over Wade Thompson is i believe Trengove can come off the LTI list in round 4 which means you might only get 1 price rise out of Thompson if Port doesn’t get a LTI.

Chad: On hosting in the USA, the services for the cost are a lot, lot, lot …. lot cheaper hosting out of the USA and with the internet, who cares where it is, you can connect anywhere and the performance isn’t different enough to warrant the extra cost (but I am sure Monty will answer the reason if he wants). I host all my stuff in the US and I believe so do the DT Talk guys. Its pretty standard stuff!
Monty I think the link to the mp3 on the main page is incorrect, it links to the Grand Final edition from last year… or are you trying to get at us Geelong supporters?
I did go to the coaches box page though and the link there is fine.
It is the volume — your audio volume was significantly higher than m0nty’s volume. There was only a small amount of static/feedback coming from when you spoke, but not m0nty (maybe m0nty has a better quality headset/microphone?).
It is more noticable on the video than the podcast mp3 for me.
If you guys could get the audio sorted out the video podcasts would be great because the content/substance is there, just lacking the top notch audio.
Hmmm….I still rail at it being my setup (volume maybe but I think the answer is to pump Monty’s volume up) causing the static. I tried it last week (with a three computer setup) and was crystal clear (http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1215162)!
The biggest improvement to this video would be to keep the audio levels as close together as possible. Molly is twice as loud and I have to turn it down every time he speaks.
Hey m0nty nice meeting you at the footy today, you seem like a very nice and knowledgeable bloke.
I was really impressed with Dowler today his second efforts, spoiling/smothers, disposal under pressure and 1%ers were all first class. The last play of the day featured Dowler diving in the air to smother a player and then doing the ground work to recollect footy, siren blowing just as he was about to handball it. Cyril Rioli, Thorp and Franklin also showed a fair bit I thought.

The audio was recorded separately and will be uploaded this week to iTunes, Kenny. I think it’s better quality than the video capture as well.

Guys good work. Pioneering the video will develop into something great(er) over time, for sure. Hey, I now know what C.Dempsey looks like!
I agree with your Hodge strategy of picking him up early in the season, which could be the case for Birchall and Ellis also.
