  • 2020 DT PRE-SEASON OUTLOOK (posted 11 Dec 2019)
    Whatever happened to R. Gray?
The departure of Chad Wingard in the off season and the injection of a couple of kids meant a lot of change of personnel in the Port forward line last year, but Robbie Gray delivered the same sort of stat line he has for the past three years: starting deep in attack, then rotating through the centre. He managed to overcome an interrupted preparation after some minor knee surgery, and his start to the 2020 preseason was much better in comparison.
The problems for those hoping for a return to Gray's All-Australian form when playing almost exclusively in midfield are that the club is at the top of the clearance ladder without him, plus they have a distinct lack of reliable forward pocket alternatives, especially after the departure of Sam Gray. He is most likely going to continue in his current role, which puts a hard ceiling on his output. The only thing keeping him in early round consideration is the lack of premium forward alternatives.

2 good games is he a chance to avg 100 for rest of the yr sc - Thebiggf - 162 months ago
Gray should smash it this week, loves a cheap goal. - pistolpk - 163 months ago
aparently has been playing with a leg injury the last few weeks, but passed a fitness test today to line up against the suns. though theres still a chance if he pulls up sore he wont play - phelps - 163 months ago
Hopefully Primus can give him a permanent midfield role in 2011, then I'll jump on if that happens. - BigV - 173 months ago
Went with him instead of J Riewoldt for $70 more in DT and less in SC, I could've got this goal-scoring machine instead of this and Gray produced nothing in 2010, while J Riewoldt is on track for the Coleman Medal! - BigV - 173 months ago
gray is the gumbleton of 2009, hope he gets his shower together and has a big 2011 - KeeeeesYYY - 173 months ago
    his SC avg is 82 m0nty - numberwang - 173 months ago
o the only news ive heard about him is that he trained well last week so if he trains well again this week he should play. - woofy - 176 months ago
better be playing this week. i have roo and tippett to deal with and the if gray doesnt play im in a lil trouble. - woofy - 176 months ago
so sick of waiting for this guy, when is he playing? - SC ADDICT - 176 months ago
gray will have a similar breakout to higgins last year and whilst he still may end up scoring less then buddy overall, i still think buddy is way too inconistent for fantasy footy so i hope you can cop his scores of 20s and 30s to go along with his 100s - SC ADDICT - 176 months ago
SC addict, gray is an unproven 22year old who is injured and uncertain of a return. Buddy is coleman medalist proven supercoach scorer and premiership player, jokes on you for picking Gray ya scrub - toodledock - 176 months ago
Trade him for Buddy if you have some spare cash, or get Medhurst or Ziebell if you don't have Hitchcock on the bench. - BigV - 176 months ago
im laughing at that very comment - SC ADDICT - 176 months ago
Going to laugh even harder when Buddy scores 150 this week - toodledock - 176 months ago
is this guy really worth keeping in SC or should he be traded for a shaun higgins or gia? - SC ADDICT - 176 months ago
