    Give Smith a smooch
    If there’s a more reliable, underrated defender in the AFL, please, do tell us. Nick Smith has gone about his business year after year, taking dangerous opposition forwards and nullifying them. Since 2011, Smith has been a walk-up selection in Sydney’s starting 22, with a low of 19 games in that time. His fantasy scores, on the other hand, aren’t anything to write home about. A career-high average of 69 in 2015 was arguably startable, but he’s never echoed those heights.
    Smith will do his thing again in 2019, and bar any injury he’ll be a walk up selection in John Longmire’s starting squad. If you’re on the market for a no-frills defender as bench cover and are more concerned with reliability than scoring ability, then you could do a lot worse than Smith. Take him with a late round pick if he suits your style, otherwise let him go undrafted due to his low ceiling.
