A spell in the NEAFL after a terrible first month of 2018 playing key forward ended with Josh Walker returning for round 14, only for Harris Andrews to get KOed necessitating him to activate his swingman skills. He stayed in defence for the rest of the year, to increasing effect. His intercept marking became lucrative enough that five of his last seven scores were above the back baseline, averaging nine marks in that run.Walker is a journeyman and a spare parts man, so it is proper to feel fairly dubious about him suddenly finding out that he's the second coming of Mitch McGovern. The Lions had previously wanted Harris Andrews to be that zone-off intercept weapon but he's turning into more of a Daniel Talia close-checking type. This is worth a look in preseason to see if Walker's late bloom is for real. -
