    Hole filled by Laidler
    A knee and then a hamstring injury derailed Jeremy Laidler's third season at Sydney, leading to a spell in the NEAFL to rebuild fitness. He returned for the second week of finals to hold down a key defensive role in an undermanned backline. His disposal average was his lowest for a full season since 2011 at Carlton.
    There is no one with quite the same skill set as Laidler on the Sydney list to play that seventh defender role, jamming up the leading spaces in the hole at half back. Fast-rising Zak Jones is too small to compete in the air to the same extent. Laidler is not needed on the rebound, which limits fantasy interest.
