Despite most assuming that Jarrad McVeigh would retire at the end of 2018, he’ll be lacing on the boots again as he heads into his 16th season. Not since 2014 has the Swans’ ex-co-captain played every available match, with surgery on a broken collarbone forcing him out for a number of mid-season matches last year, in addition to recurring calf problems hindering his rhythm.McVeigh’s knowledge and leadership are invaluable for the Swans, so as long as his body can remain intact and his form of a required standard, he will play for the seniors. Will be play every match? Extremely unlikely. Will he match his excellent scores of years gone by? No, but he will be serviceable. There is a lot of risk with McVeigh, so take him with a later pick if brave enough. -

PLAYER DISCUSSION • McVeigh is great but he has a history of getting tagged out of the odd game which keeps his average down.
