    Carlisle carries load
    Late-preseason back surgery limited the involvement of Jake Carlisle last season, eventually playing the final ten fixtures. The ex-Bomber stood in the key CHB post underdone, struggling through to play a role for the team. As with most tall defenders he can put up a startable score when he gets involved in kick to kicks across a high defensive line, but that happened only once last year.
    Carlisle is increasing his training output as he seeks to restore his production of old. The Dougal Howard acquisition improves Carlisle's chances to get forward, a prospect that will concern opposition defences and pique interest in fantasy coaches who remember big occasions when he did that at Essendon. A dominant key position player, although he rarely sends statisticians into sweats.
