Bluesman

Hey guys,
Would appreciate your thoughts on the following:

TEAM NAME: Just Champs
DEF: K. Simpson, M. Hibberd, G. Ibbotson, J. Geary, B. Waters, B. Whitecross (B. Murdoch, N. Holman)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, T. Liberatore, J. Watson, P. Dangerfield, N. van Berlo, A. Brayshaw, J. De Goey (I. Heeney, N. Krakouer)
RUC: I. Maric, M. Leuenberger (T. Bellchambers, F. Thurlow)
FWD: B. Goddard, D. Martin, D. Swan, C. Petracca, M. Clark, A. Saad (J. Hogan, K. Lambert)
CASH LEFT: $5,000

My thoughts;
Backs: there's enough value in the midpricers and worth the risk imo... not too many of the 'elites' stand out other than the couple I've chosen.
Mids: Very strong but I like it. Hopefully I'll downgrade to have some cash up my sleeve but the priority is to have them playing Rd 1.
Rucks: Maric as a POD and Leuey for value to then upgrade later. Belly is a lot to have on the bench but I think it's crucial to have the cheapest playing ruck so at this stage it's him... (especially with only 1 on the bench)
Fwds: Some may say weak but once again I'm not convinced you can put many others as elite and consistent other than the 3 I've chosen. Am out on a limb I know by saying I'm not a fan of Gray, Lids and Franklin as many others are!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers :)

Oh and with regards t to bye structure, I'm not fussed at the start of the season - way too early!! I start thinking about that as soon as I start trading once I have a better idea who I'm aiming for and who is in form etc... served me well this year climbing to 537 mid way through season before some bad choices and drifting to just outside 2000 overall. Hoping for better this year!

Money Shot

Not too bad a team you have hear.
would love too hear your thoughts on Geary as I have never heard of him.
Not sure on Libba could be a good pod though. Would stay away from Danger this year as he has contract talks over his head so im not sure how he will go. Very very strong though.
What I would do here is put Read in for Belly and swing Belly forward instead of Saad as you still have him as ruck cover but get the extra 20 points.
Forward line is weak but you've made up for it in other areas.
Good to see you have left money over in the rookies so that downgrading wont be to hard.
would love your thoughts on my team.

Big Mac

Looking good so far man. Defence looks solid, only pick I would be hesitant about would be Geary. Midfield also looks good, I'd just be wary about Liberatore as he'll probably face some tough match ups this season in the absence of Griffen - Struggled a bit towards the end of last year and even guys like Viney were able to towel him up. I like how you have NVB at m6 and Brayshaw at m7 here.

The main issue I have with your side is Bellchambers on the ruck bench. You won't have a ruck out every week, so that's a lot of wasted money sitting there. It also makes your forward line look quite weak (not sure there will be 3 solid rookies to play there and solid backup as well). I'd suggest dropping Petracca and moving Bellchambers to the forward line, and maybe using that cash to get GAJ in your mids somehow.

Bluesman

Thanks MS - much appreciate your thoughts!
Jarryn Geary from the Saints - seems to be killing Pre-season so far and made a great start last year (top 10 defender until about Rd 12/13 last year) so hoping he can be more consistent this year or least make me some money to upgrade.
Am a big fan of Libba as a POD. had him last year and he let me down a little but am comfortable with his POD status.
Danger I'm thinking of taking the chance on as he's underpriced for what he's capable of. Agree contract talks can be a distraction but that's not strong enough reason alone for mw not to pick him.
Having 1 ruck on the bench has changed my thoughts as I mentioned. Am not a huge fan of Belly to be honest and personally I feel cheaper players are capable of scoring 80ish in the Fwds - having said that he is a great pick as cover so I guess I'm wanting to be different to the stock standard!

As for my thoughts on your team below:

TEAM NAME: Money Shot 2015
DEF: H. Taylor, J. Newnes, S. Thompson, B. Waters, B. Whitecross, H. Goddard (D. McKenzie, E. Vickers-Willis)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, S. Pendlebury, N. Fyfe, J. Selwood, B. Crouch, N. van Berlo, S. Biggs, N. Freeman (A. Neal-Bullen, J. Steele, K. Lambert)
RUC: N. Naitanui, M. Kreuzer (T. Read
FWD: B. Deledio, L. Franklin, D. Martin, D. Swan, T. Bellchambers, M. Clark (J. Hogan, N. Krakouer)
CASH LEFT: $12,300

Taylor - not sold on as a keeper. Newnes - had him in until late - like him but just couldn't afford him.  Other backs fine subject to rookie selections later.
Mids: Ablett - have always had him but I'm taking the punt this year in not starting with him and saving the cash! Personally it wouldn't surprise me if he averaged around 100-110. Other mids are great I think.
Nic Nat good pick but Kreuz worries me as a Blues man - Just not sure of his role. Having said that I still think he will make 50-100k.
Not a Franklin fan regarding his (in)consistency - does my head in! Others are fine.
Overall, I'd downgrade Gaz for another premo mid and upgrade Taylor
Hope this helps.

Thanks BM - appreciate it.
Agree with Libba going off the boil a bit last year but seem to have more patience on 'inside' mids in not being as easy to stop. Am hoping 'natural' improvement will help somewhat. Am still toying with the rucks - hardest line to pick I reckon and is the key to your fortunes this year IMO!!
As for GAJ, I'm one that has always had him as #1 picked - BUT I'm jumping ship this year (Yes, shoot me later!!) but I'm thinking the risk is worth it. Personally I think he'll average 100-110 so the extra cash can be used elsewhere...

thanks again

All good points on your team.
Gaz is first picked every year.
I too am a blues supporter and think Kreuzer can be a 90ish average if playing in the ruck and I am worried about the thought of him playing full forward and he can easily be changed to Leuy.
I can always downgrade Biggs to someone like Boekhurst and then upgrade one of my defenders to someone like Shaw.

fasttrack13

67   62   90   61   106    68   27
^ not sure that shows Geary as a top 10 defender, lucky to be top 20.
Waters can't see averaging above 75 takes away fantasy relevance in my team.
Ibbotson I like. However I got burnt by mid pricerrs last year.
Watson yes if he's on the park but last 2 years he has missed significant time, danger will frustrate you  with 150s and 70s a lot. Needs the crows best 22 on the park consistently to be and relevance... good in good team.
Maric is a good pod, you won't be keeping Leuenberger, best effort for hitouts to ADV is 24% which was 6 per game. Make sure you upgrade him to the super premo. KrooZ holds greater value.
Saad need upgrade of rookie list. Unusual weak fwd line, if you go weak anywhere it's the mids because the rookies have better scoring potential and are better cash generators.

Definitely a lot of good picks though mate!

Swanny_22

I really like your team and some of the reasons you've picked some of the players, Its a really solid team.
My thoughts:
Backs- I agree that the elites will score around the same as some of the mid pricers, was thinking of geary as hes coming back from an injury but waiting to see his form throughout preseason comp. Only thing is i would be looking at Hugh Goddard for your bench as he should be playing regularly and obviously has talent in his family. Also McGuiness from the Lions has been tipped to be like Langdon from last year. Solid backline.

Mids- Really strong midfield, I'm an Essendon supporter and love Jobe but has missed a few games in recent years so maybe swap him to someone a bit more durable, if you've got the cash Callan Ward is a great option. Love the De Goey pick as i was strongly considering him especially if he starts round 1 as suggested. Great Midfield.

Rucks- Only 1 ruck back up this year so makes it tough, i had bellchambers sitting there but put him into forward line and a cheap rookie dpp at ruck 3.

Forwards- I found premo picking difficult, I would take Petracca out and put belly in there and have a cheap r3 option personally and use the extra cash in some way to upgrad a mid pricer maybe. Would like to see your thoughts on Saad i havent heard much about him. I like the look of Jack Steele and Essendons Laverde aswell as they should get lots of opportunities.

Would love to get your thoughts on my team

Biggs or NVB to a cheaper rookie and Crouch to a super premo

Looks very strong then

Keeper27

DEF: hmmm... you've gone this line to cut costs and thats fine, IF you are confident that the 3 blokes you've chosen to tow the line are good enough cover. I personally like those picks, have had em in and out my preseason sides. HT/Thommo & Newnes all can go 90+

MID: Good Mids, i do agree with the others when they say D/G biggs and U/G Crouchy.

RUC: On the cheaper side but has huge potential. got cover in the fwd line too.

FWD: great fwd line, not a fan of the Dusty pick but thats a personal thing.

overall great premos, and good structure.

Bluesman

another try that's quite different to my first:

Basically, have taken the chance on KreuzBerger in the rucks although not 100% on Kreuz due to his role...
have used this to go stronger in the backs to save on some trades later.
Mids I'm pretty happy with - A. Swallow to be 8th mid (avg 105-110) as quite possible I believe due to North's need for someone to step up/in on the inside due to Levi's departure.
Fwds - am not happy with TBC in the side at all (esp. at F4) but at this point I can't see any other way...? He does though provide ruck cover which is what I need with this side!

DEF: K. Simpson, B. Smith, M. Hibberd, G. Birchall, G. Ibbotson, B. Waters (M. Dick, H. Goddard)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, M. Priddis, C. Ward, A. Swallow, N. van Berlo, J. Anderson, I. Heeney (B. Boekhorst, N. Freeman, K. Lambert)
RUC: M. Kreuzer, M. Leuenberger (T. Read)
FWD: B. Deledio, B. Goddard, D. Swan, T. Bellchambers, M. Clark, J. Hogan (J. Laverde, N. Krakouer)
CASH LEFT: $46,600

Would appreciate your thoughts!

Great team

I would be taking out a premo defender and replace with a rookie doesn't matter who it is wait for the NAB and round 1 team to get named. This would free up a lot of cash, I suggest use some of it on Belly and don't worry bout the R/F link and get in Martin/Gray/Buddy. With the rest of the cash maybe look for another mid priced midfielder instead of Anderson or even upgrade Ward to Gaz as Gary Ablett junior broke his personal best in the GoldCoast 2km time trial yesterday.

He has a point here but I would do something different.
Id go Simpson too someone priced at 117k (one will pop up during nab)
Then Laverde to Martin this gives you more points in my opinion and a better structure.
And you can have belly at F5.

I would love your thoughts on my team.
