No Parker?! Avg 120 for the last half of the season and loves a goal and tackle. Natural progression should take him in the top 10 with all the wins the swans will have again. I'll back him in and am expecting another rise in his avg to around 114-117. His progress is much like jelwoods.

Loves a clanger too. Contested rate of 48.9% is good not great, but his real scoring power comes from his goal kicking. If he moves into a more midfield oriented role the goals might drop off a bit and then he'll be in with the rest of the pack. Handballs too much, his efficiency is just average, isn't elite in clearances or inside/rebound 50's.

Selwood did it the other way around. He was a contested beast but he became the best of the best when he added goals to his trick bag.

Also, teams win because their players play well, not the other way around.

mm where do you get these stats

I made a spreadsheet. I used to just go with my own thoughts without looking at any stats. Some surprise me, like Priddis is actually a butcher of the ball.

Parker gets the 10th most contested possessions out of anyone in the league so I'm probably being a bit harsh on him, but his % should be better for a player who handballs so much.

Just copy and paste the data into a spreadsheet and divide contested possessions by total cont+uncont possesessions.

Nic Nat ihas the highest percentage, running at 72.31% contested. Lowden doesn't count.

Dangerfield has the highest % of the mids, but one of the worst DE's as a result of it. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Top 10 mids (averages) who made the top 10 again the following year:

2010 to 2011 - 4
2011 to 2012 - 4
2012 to 2013 - 4
2013 to 2014 - 3

2014 to 2015 - 1 will have to make way for Toby so we're down to 9 already.

That's an interesting stat. Out of interest, if you remove gaz, pendles and selwood I'm guessing the numbers drop dramatically? If you remove those 3 from the last 3 years of data, and add in 11, 12 and 13, does that help move it back up closer to your original figures?

Ablett, Pendles and Selwood will be in the top 10. The other seven are anyone's guess and I'm not even going to try.

RaisyDaisy

I know he is barely getting mentioned this year, but even with Griffen gone I really think Libba is going to be Top 10, and would be a huge POD by the looks of things

Agreed but people are forgetting about Rockliff, yes there is a stack of Brisbane midfielders now but averaging 115 is definitely going to get you into the Top 10 midfielders. He averaged 132. 8 more points than Pendles, 12 more than Selwood. Even if he drops off, don't see him dropping more than 10 points, if that.

Plus with a fit Hanley, Rich, Beams and Redden; the tag won't get anywhere near him. The FF Rockliff hype has died. :P

Tom Rockliff will have a breakout year.

Yes, you heard me.

LAST YEAR WAS NOTHING.

If Rocky isn't top 10 I'll run down the street naked. You are nuts if you don't think he'll be top 5.

Not sure if I am coreect, but iirc, Libba tends to struggle with Griffen out and the number 1 tag will now go to him!
