Maxwell in the AR spot bagger
maybe not, he batted at 8 in ODI...maybe because he is shower haha.

but Mark Taylor even said he could be picked purely as a spinner who can once in a blue moon hit a good knock

A couple of things to clarify:
Shane Watson, Mitch Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, Moises Henriques, Sean Abbott are All Rounders

just makes it a bit easier

Simple, guess the squad of 15. It gets named in a week or so (7th I think)...

Squads can be named an updated up until the start of the Sydney test match.

Looks to me like this rule been ignored.
As a result I will look to update mine tomorrow.
We now know team not announced until Sunday so think fair enough in circumstances.
Think the cut off should be no later than end of Test match.

The rule was followed yeah, then they extended it. Once the test match is declared over, no more updating

Australia's squad:
Bats: Warner, Finch, Clarke, Bailey, Smith
AR: Watson, Faulkner, Marsh, Maxwell
Keep: Haddin
Seam: Johnson, Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins
Spin: Doherty

I will start tallying the points up now, they will be in the opening post.

So Nige, Rusty00 and AaronKirk got 14/15 correct, each getting the spinner spot wrong. the first two picked Boyce, AK went with Lyon.

Turned out the selectors were super boring and just picked the most obvious squad out there, everyone was playing for a few other names to get thrown up haha

I guess Doh is tried and tested.

So they ended up picking Maxi and a specialist spinner.

Gonna be interesting to see how much variation there is in the XI over the course of the World Cup. Assuming it's gonna change a fair bit depending on opponents, pitches and conditions.

If Pup isn't fit give Burnsy a go!
They definitely won't be selecting a player without experience in the ODI setup to replace Pup, which is why Smarh and Bear are the leading candidates.

But Burns is the best thing since sliced bread

would love to see Bear get a go, preferably at #3!
