Not much love for Sam Fisher this year? Built for SC and seems to be over his injury worries??

I really want to pick Fisher but I just don't trust him, 7,9,15 games in the last 3 seasons - solid as a rock prior to that, no doubt he can score well. I'm tossing up between taking the punt on Newnes or Fisher - Newnes will play but can he increase his output again like last season, vs Fisher can score but can he play out the season? For 10k more I'm starting to think Fisher could be a better option.

Fisher's best years were when the Saints were good and his role was loose man in defence.  Not too sure he will have the same role in a much weaker team to that of his heyday, plus the fact that he turns 33 this season.

and is S.Gilbert still injured?

rejigged my defence again and now have Newnes at D5.

The abundance of forward rookies has allowed this to happen.
Similar story on my end.

I had Smith and Hibberd and turned them into Heater and Gibbo. Hurn, Fisher and Lumumba are D3-5 and Clancee is D6.

I honestly believe all 5 of Heater, Gibbo, Hurn, Fisher and Lumumba can be some of the top defenders this season and so I rather have the surety down back and capitalise on having so many forward rookies available.

Hagebear

I've pretty much gone all out and have Lumumba at D6. Fair chance there won't be 1 rookie starting round 1.

Surprised to see Burgoyne with such low votes

I think people are scared off because of his age and price. If he was 40K cheaper I would lock him in with Simmo.

Yeah I think his price is a turn off too. Prior to last year his previous 3 years saw him averaging a lot less too - wasn't in keeper status

Any reason why absolutely no one is talking about Yarran?

Scores of 103 and 137 in his two NAB matches so far

Like all other defenders in his price range he can put in the odd stinker, but I think he has more upside then a lot of the others around the same price

Yarran spent too many years being the hype player and not delivering. It's a hard tag to shake. Hell, he was even the rookie hype player before he was the perennial mid price breakout hype player.

Yep exactly. Too many people have been burnt by him before so it's hard to get back on the horse so to speak.

Also he tends to get thrown forward at times, which affects his scoring and if he starts dominating off half-back I'd think he would be high on oppositions coaches boards for a forward tag.

Too many question marks for me.

Gibson back in my team now, loving his game so far tonight!

Soft tissue injuries. He has a history of them and was also battling a calf in the pre-season. I think with Walker out it means he is a lock at HB which suits his scoring but I am still worried about his body and like Cyril won't be picking him because of it.

Was tossing up between Gibson and Burgoyne and tonight has made that a little easier.

Ricochet

He sure is tempting. Don't think I can start him over Shaw or Simpson tho

Yep, those 2 are locked in 1 and 2 for me, but my D3 is wide open...

RaisyDaisy

Believe me, I don't take much notice of premiums scores during NAB, but does anyone, possibly Carlton supporters have any info on Simpson?

Has played closed to 80% TOG in both games for scores of 50 and 78

My first locked defender at D1 and hasn't left once. His history of barely missing games and season after season of averaging mid 90's is why he is my first pick, but just wanting to know if there are any structural changes that might impact his scoring?
