Mat0369

More of a lockdown role from memory. They tried to free him up 2 seasons ago but he was required to take the best forward and be more accountable which hurt his scoring.

Scott D Thompson...

$373,900

Only averaged 78 this year but Averaged 98 last year and 87 the year before.

Why did he have such a up year?

Because i had him in my side from round 1...

Seriously though, I noticed he was playing more of a lockdown role however was not getting the intercept marks he did for the previous 2 seasons

A fit Grima and Jippett may just free him up

Or even young Durdin as well.

He isn't a bad pick but like Newnes, Rampe and even Higgins before him.

Another thought, what does the inclusion of Higgins and a fit Wells spell for NDS? More mid time with less attention?

Hi All,

I must admit I read more than I write on this forum, the contributors write so freely and with confidence in their opinions, it is a great site for this.

I was looking into who were the best three premiums for my backline, and the overall averages are misleading (I think).

When I looked at B.Smith, K.Simpson, H.Shaw and their numbers from last season, their worst numbers aren't for good reading.

When I pick players, I look for reliability/durability (games played, preferably 22!), a good average score, but consistency in scoring seems like a good contributing factor to help decide on who you pick.

Therefore I am inclined to pick Malceski even though he is top dollar, plus S.Burgoyne, purely because they rarely disappoint with a really bad score (well, based on last year anyway). I like Hibberd as he is priced well and I had him last year, and think he can go better this year.

These are my current first three defenders, plus Waters and two rookies. Rohan is tempting, as is Whitecross if he gets a gig.

Well, there you go, a fair dinkum crack on my behalf. Thanks to everyone else who contributes to the forum.

Tbh i think with all of Shaw, walker,  Simpson, Smith, Hibberd, Burgoyne are going to average within 10 of each so you wont really go wrong with any of them. Eski will average a bit more but you gotta pay the extra for it.

Right now I'm sitting with Hibberd, Burgoyne, Smith, Newnes and Waters. All capable of 90+ averages.  Will be keeping a close eye on the NAB cup form of Heater, Malceski, Walker, Hurn. Don't think I could bring myself to go Simpson after last year.

All out in the back line.

Simpson, Shaw, Hibberd, Walker, Mewnes, Waters. - Viojo-Rainbow, Vickers Willis.

If more than 3 rookies pop up I'll drop 1 premo. But don't like defender rookies spuds like Bews who scores 30. Would rather a Simpson + Freeman to a Watson + Defender Rookie. Will probably end up going strong in the mids but for now.. Only the 4 premo mids.

People picking Burgoyne, keep in mind that he scored well last year because Hawthorn had so many injuries which gave him more mid time. Can't see him averaging much more than 85 this year

To be honest I'm considering an upper midpricer spread of 7 defenders and using the rolling lockouts and emerency loop to weed out bad scores.

People do it with even rookies and get some success. Put a mid pricer with high standard deviation on the E, crack open your beer and enjoy the ride. Hell, people are already considering riding bare back and picking Thompson.
