This year I am going very light on in the back line as there are a lot of cheaper options, im just wondering is it that insane to start with no premium defenders?
Newnes, Savage, Seedsman, Waters, Whitecross, Colquohn and rookies on the bench.
Is that too weak even if it allows my midfield to have 6 premiums and forward line to have 5?

Holz

Most are loading up the backline. I would say that's certainly too weak and you need every guy to turn into a great pick and even than you will need bulk trades to fix that line even if all pan out.

I would certainly add in hibberd than one more  premo.

it really depends what you do with the spare cash

but i feel you're better off going cheap in your forward line as there are lots of bargains

Dayze

Probably two premiums is the lowest and hope a midpricer can push 90+ and become a keeper. That leaves three spots still to fill for a complete backline.
That is a lot of trades used on one line but it's what I'm considering.

The definition of a 'premium' in defence this year is an interesting one.

90+ ave?

Id be happy with high 80s

To put it simply

IMO a premium is someone you wouldn't trade even with unlimited cash and trades

I'm not even drunk

To work out who will end up being the Top 6 defending scorers in 2015 , you would need a crystal ball.
So I would be against loading up there because the potential for sideways trading.
3 premiums at most imo.

krk004

Top 10 defenders should go 90+, so if you can get 6 of those, you'll be travelling ok.

How many can you pick to do that from rd 1?

I'm backing in James Kelly this year as one from rd 1, B Smith, Shaw, Simpson too.

Also, FWIW, Harry Taylor averaged ~93 from last 11 games, priced at 446k.

Smoky choice?

+1 and he is currently in my team.  Nice price and should be a keeper. Can put in the occasional stinker though,

I am with you thinking hibberd is the number 1 pick for a defender this year

Too many 100+ fwd starting locks to go too cheap there KB.
My initial thoughts are to gamble with def as to know which will end up keepers is more difficult.
I am thinking in def - 2 locks , 3 bargain  money makers, 3 rooks.

Backline is looking a lot weaker for options next year will probably pick 2 of the better ones and have a stab at a couple of cheaper blokes hoping they can do what Jaensch did this year
