Heyyy Everyone !! Pretty pumped to be back on the site here, have been offline for sometime now but missing the planets greatest sport is just starting to kick in :P Really looking forward to the new year and getting back into the swing of things. Im usually up to date with all things AFL during the off season, whos hot, whos not, injuries, rookies and the drafts etc but this year i was off celebrating schoolies so i guess i cant really remember what happened...  :P :-X That is if i ever found out... Who knows HAHAHA ! But anyway, so ive put together my first team and was really just wanting some input on all things for my team. Its much appreciated guys !

Here it is :

Backs: Shaw, Hibberd, Walker, Ibbostson, Waters, Whitecross (Dick, Newman)
Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, J.P.Kennedy, Heeney, Boekhorst, Freeman (Neal-Bullen, Steele, Lambert)
Rucs: Mumford, Leuenberger (Cox)
Fwds: Deledio, Franklin, Swan, Bellchambers, Clark, Hogan (Goddard, Krakouer)

Cash: 3k

I believe i have a good balance of picks more on the unique side while not being outrageous and still having their merit, as well as a powerhouse set of mids to give me a boost from the get go. Combine these two things with all the correct rookies (Although way too hard to call now ) and you have a recipe for a successful start to the SC season with it then just being down to trades :D

So again, any thoughts to help out a clueless brother would be much appreciated !! I hate not knowing whats not going on, i'm going to have to go into some deep research hibernation to catch up on my schoolies consequences :P

Cheers everyone !! :D

I would say some improvements but it's a very strong team and I can't really fault it.
Only thing is I have a feeling that your byes will be horrible with:
Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe and Kennedy all have the same bye.
Great team though.
Love to see your thoughts on my team.

Haha yeah thats probably part of what i was saying... still havent looked at the byes... not even once. I guess i was just hoping for the best :P

It's a great structure though just need a few new picks.

Basically ive gone Ibbotson/Mumford/Kennedy to Smith/Naitanui/Sloane mainly for bye reasons but this too gives me 3 premiums rather then 2 and a mid pricer, yet still keeps with my thoughts on wanting a couple unique picks early

So here's my team:

Backs: Smith, Shaw, Hibberd, Walker, Waters, Whitecross (Wigg, Newman)
Mids: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane, Heeney,Freeman, Steele (Neal-Bullen, Walsh, Lambert)
Rucs: Naitanui Leuenberger (Cox)
Fwds: Deledio, Franklin, Swan, Bellchambers, Clark, Hogan (Goddard, Krakouer)

Cash: $300

Would love some advice and opinions from a few more people this time :D Still finding my feet this pre-season but certainly have read up and feel a lot more comfortable with my knowledge of the off season now

Cheers everyone !

That's a great team!
Can't fault it!
Only problem is you haven't got much money left and you have very cheap rookies that may not be playing round one so it will be hard to find a replacement for them!
Very good side though and I would just sit on it until the NAB cup!
Would love your thoughts on my team!

Thank you ! Yeah my rookies are obviously thin with 4 actual rookies, but imo they all have their chances to be upgraded, obviously all are unlikely but atm all you can do is guess and use your rookies as place holders for now and this just happens to mean i can have Smith over a Hurn or someone like that which makes me feel a little better for now :)

Any other opinions from others? Cheers

Ringo

Team is sound Hawkers

Backs Pretty standard a lot of teams are going with Whitecross and Waters so hopefully they pay off early.
Mids: Sound structure 5/6 Round 12 bye may bite a little here though with Ablett, Pendles and Fyfe all with byes maybe go with 2 and select another Premium.
Rucks: Solid structure here and cover with Bellchambers.
Forwards: Strong as will most teams this year.

So just sit and wait for NAB cup.

Gone for a bit of a different strategy this time and am really liking it !! Yes im down a premium mid but i've added two premium mid like scores in the rucks who could only go even better then this year with the new SC ruck scoring system. Also gotten rid of all mid pricers, reducing risk, while also requiring an easy 14 keepers with no question unless an injury strikes of course. Not only are they all keepers, but almost all of them will be amongst the top tier of their respected lines which should see me off to a flyer. Ablett, Pendles, Rocky, Selwood, as well as Jacobs, Goldy, Swan and Deledio all at least possible chances for 115+ average from the get go.

Backs: Smith, Shaw, Hibberd, Walker, Whitecross, Goddard (Wigg, Newman)
Mids: Ablett, Rockliff, Pendlebury, Selwood, Heeney, Vanderberg, Laverade, Freeman (Neal-Bullen, Cavka, Lambert)
Rucks: Jacobs, Goldstein (Cox
Fwds: Deledio, Franklin, Bennell, Swan, Clark, Hogan (Steele, Krakour)
Cash: $2,100k

Obviously rookies are just place holders for the moment so not worried about them and rather just curious about my premium picks, as well as what i consider a unique structure :)

Would love some thoughts on this change of structure !! :D Cheers guys !

Like the defence no ticky iffy waters selection.
Mid needs attention IMO!
Rucks nicnat is a must... As he will probably average similar to both the guys you have yet is 90k less.
Fwds at solid also.
So one of the premos to nicnat. Then get one of those rookies to NVB because it just sites up that line.
It'd take it from an 8 to an 8.5 it's a really solid picks they're all really good just need to dig deeper for the value I reckon.

Hey Guys  ;D ;D

Heres my first attempt since SC has opened. I feel bad, im usually all over everything every year but with exams, then uni stuff and how i went overseas i feel behind the 8 ball this year which is a little worrying so i need your help guys ! Here's my team at the moment:

I feel this is a very balanced side. You look at some lines and go thats really strong so then you look around for the weak link but there isnt really one there thats super obvious. From what i see, i have 12 definite keepers in that side along side, Newnes, Ibbo, Waters and Mitchell who could IMO potentially all be easily capable of reaching premium status which makes 16 potential keepers that will obviously be likely like 13/14 knowing SC :P

But the thing i like about this is you look at the back line and go thats risky, but oddly strong too, ive used minimal cash yet i potentially have 6 keepers there as the backline keeper average wont be high this year and if anyone was to tell me that none of those have a good chance of reaching that keeper average they'll be mad.

The mids are still strong-ish with 4 of the likely top 5 mids plus Biggs at M5 instead of the usual and popular Van Berlo, i just think he'll be the pick of the rookies this year and a much smarter selection then Van Berlo. He is also surrounded by some solid rookies for this stage of the year but Krakouer is there as a floating donut that can hopefully push for selection mid way through the year.

I love my rucks, think they are ideal and will be the top 2 rucks if not, 2 of the top 3 and ive splashed the cash here

And Fwds are slightly unique but still have 4 genuine massive scorers there and can all go insane on there day. Bennell is going to go off this year, its his year and i see him pushing the top of the fwds. Then theres Mitchell and even though i got burnt last year starting him, he is even cheaper this year and the kid is just a freak. He is the type that is ready to explode and you dont want to be the one who misses it. With Malceski gone, i think McVeigh will slot in there and leaves the door wide open for Mitchell to go ham.

So yeah, thats my team, like i said no real obviously weak areas, saved some cash with players who i think will explode or who have just as much a chance of becoming keeper status for there line then not. Combined that with a few sneaky POD's and potentially 16 keepers ;) (Hehe, i should enter the lottery if it happens :o ) And i feel i have a solid team and for the first time this pre season ive actually felt comfortable with what ive picked.

Still guys, like i said, ive been out of it all so would love some much appreciated views on this team.

Cheers guys ! Hawkers  8)

Yeah another super risky team I've seen today. There may well be no DEF rookies come round 1, but whilst you could be set with 6 keepers, you may only have 2. Banking on Ibbo, Waters AND Fisher to hold their bodies together  all season will keep your stress levels quite high, be sure to get regular blood-pressure checks at your local GP. I'd rather Yeo than one of Ibbo or Fisher. If he moves into the mids like he should, he can score just as well, plus his body seems much more injury-free. That's if you want to stick to that structure, obviously one of them down to a rookie is an option if we see enough options close to round 1.

An expensive midfield. Fyfe? I dunno man, I think I'd rather fork out the extra $50k and get Rocky or save $50k and get JPK, maybe even Ward for a better bye. Also, why not Biggs AND NVB?

Solid rucks, can't fault. Cover would be ideal, but there aren't many options for that and you obviously don't like them.

Yeah, Bennell should go huge. Goddard is probably still favourite to go 105+ easily though, plus play 22 games in the process. Pre-season should tell us more about Titch, he does look mighty tempting though.

At the end of the day, you already know all the guys I mentioned are risks, and if you're happy to take the punt, go for it. Aside from that, all the players you've picked look really solid. Good luck!

I like this good mixture of
Super prems: Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Jacobs
Prems: Hibberd, Birchall, Deledio, Bennell, swan, nicnat
Potential Prems: Newnes, fisher, Mitchell
Cash cows: Ibbo, waters + rookies.

Don't think Ibbo will make much cash though, watch his nab cup position.
