I don't think that going in with 4 premium mids is too weak at all just as long as they are all guns and capable of going 120+ which I think all 4 that you have picked are capable of.

The other important thing is to spend the cash saved in the mids wisely, which I think you have also done.

I really like the team Quinny and the only thing I would think about is ditching Ibbo and bringing in Belly. I was into Ibbo early on but who knows where he will play under Lyon this year or whether his dodgy body will hold up. I think a RUC/FWD link is crucial and Belly has the potential to be a keeper. I think even if Giles plays alongside him, he will still be a good pick as long as he is the Bombers number 1 ruck. Hopefully his body holds out and he can play some consistent footy.

Thanks Ben,
Yeah could definitely make that change quite easily. Just waiting to see what rookies pop up in the Backline first before making the change back.

Had another crack. Tinkered with the structure a little which I prefer the look of now. Will depend on availability of rookie backmen though as to weather I can use this structure.

D: Simpson, Shaw, Hibberd, Ibbotson, Whitecross, Brown (Dick, Goddard)

M: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Sloane, Priddis, Van Berlo, Heeney, Boekhorst (Vandenberg, Freeman, Lambert)

R: Goldstein, Naitanui (Nankervis)

F: Franklin, Martin, Swan, Clark, Karnezis, Hogan (Laverde, Krakouer)

Cash: $70,900

Thoughts??

I like the structure as it's similar to mine ;) however I feel you will need a backup plan for the defence.

Personally can't see Whitecross in the Hawks Rd.1 team and Brown is going to be a terrible scorer most weeks.

No major flaws in the team and obviously rookies will be tinkered with the next few weeks.

Yeah hoping another defensive rookie or 2 pop up but otherwise will probably find the cash to turn Whitecross into another mid pricer like Geary or Pearce

#34
Post Nab challenge team:

D: Simpson, Shaw, Lumumba, Ibbotson, Goodes, Brown (Saad, Goddard)

M: Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Priddis, Griffen, Newton, Cripps, Heeney (Vandenberg, Miller, Steele)

R: Goldstein, Maric (Read)

F: Franklin, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lamb, Lambert)

Cash: $126,200

Rookies all subject to change depending on round 1 teams.
Extra cash will be used to get Ablett if he's named or to make last minute adjustments.
Still considering Maric to NicNat then Ibbo to Gibson

Give me your thoughts :)

Quinny i love it mate top job

Interesting what no ablett allows you to do.. Not sold on Ibbo. But other than that looks strong. You reckon hugh goddard will get a game? Planning on using that cash to a higher priced player like Jaksch?

GCSkiwi

Love the look of mids onwards but crikey that's a weak defense I feel... I reckon you need at least one more player in there with a decent bit of durability and JS - Ibbo in the last 5 years has played 17, 18, 21, 13, 10 games, worries me though if he puts in 12 up to the bye you could have your upgrade done. Goodes can score well but will he get a job, great NAB so maybe he'll warrant a place with the doggies losing some seniority, but JS is iffy. Brown's scoring is a bit average and games played have been patchy, prefer as a bench warmer. Goddard who knows, lots of hype and you'd expect him to play but only 1 NAB outing and he was good without being great. Saad has been ok but will he get upgraded and given a run???

Nige

No ruck cover could be a worry.

Goodes and Brown as D5 and D6 concerns me too.

The rest is all gravy, very nice in fact.

Ibbo to Geary still a possibility or using cash to get another premium like Gibson.
Goddard and all rookies just sitting on for now. McIntosh and Hamling still possibilities for D8

Only thing I like about Ibbo is that he has history of being a premium. Only had 12 possessions yesterday and still got mid 70s.
Goodes, Brown and my rookies could all be changed depending on the teams that are named

Still hoping Nankervis can sneak a game round 1. Coverage otherwise is impossible without getting Belly forward who I'm really not sold on

RaisyDaisy

Not convinced on Ibbo at all

I expect him to average 75, and I'd hardly call a 13 game season "proven premium". Not to mention 4 of those 13 games saw sub 80 scores

Lumumba at D3 looks too weak too, so I'd turn Ibbo into a premium. Even Newnes at D3 would sure things up

Other than that, looking really good mate :)

Yeah might have been a bit rich calling him a  proven premium but I still love that he barely needs to touch it to post a decent score.
If no issues pop up between now and round 1 then I'll most likely upgrade Ibbo to Gibson with my spare cash

Alright, last one and I'm leaving it alone!

D: Simpson, Shaw, Gibson,  Lumumba, Goodes, Saad (Brown, McIntosh)

M: Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Sloane, Griffen, Newton, Cripps, Heeney (Vandenberg, Ellis-yolmen, Miller)

R: Goldstein, Naitanui (Read)

F: Franklin, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lamb, Lambert)

No cash to play with but am open to trading Griffen to Wells if I need to.
Otherwise I'm pretty settled with this team until teams are named!
