Whoeverthe top two were last year, it won't be them.  I think Dean Cox was the last ruckman to be able to do it two years in a row.

With the new SC scoring of 3 points for hit outs to advantage the top two will have to come from; Jacobs, Sandi, Nic Nat or Goldy I would have thought...... Not that many good tap ruckman in the league.

You would have thought NicNat would be up there for hitouts to advantage but he didn't even come in the top 10 for percentage in the afl in 2014.

Maric has good credentials from 13 and 14.   Likely POD.  Has been in my early team.  Either him or goldy for R1.
had NicNat all last year and got burnt.   Would want to wait and see what he does and who else plays with him.

Which rucks are you expecting the new scoring to impact.

Burnt by nicnat???? 105 average in last part of the year... lock him in with cox now gone giving him no.1 ruck role!!

It looks like my someone has finally picked up on me posting this all over the place  :P

Cox and Sandi (pre injuries) were the only two.

Sandilands is also a player that is heavily criticised for not having enough hit outs to advantage. The 'experts' are constantly talking about how for a guy that gets his hand to the ball so often he doesn't do enough in getting the ball to his team mates and is sharked quite often, so if the new format for point distributions is legit that crosses him off my list for multiple reasons.

Goldy when not playing with a busted shoulder had been a top 2 ruck 3 of the last 4 years. Next year will be 4/5

Goldy

And yet the point still stands, the top guys will have a let down year after their monster year the following season. Goldstein has been close, but he still had the 93 average 2 seasons ago and then dropped to a 106 this year (but I think he might have been 2nd in overall points for rucks? but not total average?).

The list of guys that have screwed people the following year is a lot shorter then the list of guys that have been successful.

This is why I am staying away from Sauce, Martin and Mummy (I also have other reasons for Mummy).

Someone that could have a really big bounce back season is Minno but I think he is too risky at his price. I would rather go with Nic Nat and Kreuze to start the year and then upgrade Kreuze when I can get a better gauge on who is going to be one of the better rucks (like Sauce, Minno etc. the last couple of seasons). This obviously depends on if Malthouse is really that thickheaded and plays both Kreuze and one of the two other spuds in tandem round 1

Goldy

I really Should stop, people not picking goldy really helps my goal to win SC.

Goldys 93 was when he shared the ruck duties with Hmac. Was even dropped early in that season because he didn't gel well with a second Ruckman. They have let him go it alone ever since. His scores early this year were only down due to a shoulder injury he sustained in round 1.
If fit and rucking alone from round 1 you can pencil him in for top 2. He's the only one I'm super confident in.

Mat0369

Did he also have off-season surgery that year as well which goes back to the don't pick guys off no pre-season rule?

I can't really see Goldstein dropping below his average from last season but I would still look at him as an upgrade target. I think the guys in the ruck probably take a different battering to other positions around the ground. They tend to be sluggish after they shoulder the majority of the work for a season and then tend to bounce back. Considering there seem to be a bunch of decent mid price options and Nic Nat is under 500k I would look at a combo of a midprice guy and Nic Nat and then looking to upgrade to Goldy when he gets in a groove. The 100k difference between Nic Nat/Goldy could probably be used elsewhere.

That is if Nic Nat has an uninterrupted pre-season

Jacobs just has too much margin of safety not to be a lock.

+ new h/o rule benefiting his lead attribute -- leading tap ruckman --
+ new h/o rule dogging his opponents at the same time
+ 4ppg margin on 3rd highest ppg scorer
+ competition/load sharing with a 1 gamer in 6 years and Jenkins who has changed in to an impact forward
+ average 1 game missed per year for 4 years

And yet:

2011 avg: 92
2012 avg: 101
2013 avg: 85
2014 avg: 115

Look at all the people shutting down the Brodie Smith choice given that he is a premium price after 1 premium year; Jacobs is looking pretty similar.

Another negative is as people have already mentioned, top rucks rarely back it up (excluding D. Cox)

I can't see Jacobs improving much, if at all. I'm on the Goldy/NicNat train at the moment personally.
