Just going over the stats from the NAB Cup and some interesting findings emerged.

Jack Lonie - 69 avg from 71% TOG (played 3 games)

He's not your sub type either and small forwards in weak teams generally hold their spot, I can't see too much competition down at the Saints.

Jesse Hogan - 50 avg from 74% TOG (played 3 games)

I don't think he's an absolute lock if Lonie is named, granted he has JS but let's not forget we don't have to hang onto these guys all year.
The problem with Lonie is what happens when Billings returns from injury ???

Billings has been confirmed for rd1, so we will see if Lonie gets a run

I'm putting Hogan at F7, and F8 will most likely go to one of Lamb/Lonie/Daniel

Reckon Billings will spend more time in the midfield this year, the main threat would be Saad who hasn't yet been promoted. Will wait and see as there are three spots up for grabs due to LTI's.

Fair enough, I thought I'd read that Billings would miss the first couple of games.

Edit: I misread Fantasy Freako's newsletter

I am expecting saad to get first crack

.@melbournefc rookie Aaron vandenBerg didn't train with main group this AM & not named for Casey tomorrow - unlikely for Rd 1. #SuperCoach

Hope that vandenberg is indeed playing round 1 ... But I have suspected for a while this player might throw a spanner in the works ...

If he does not line up I think it makes me feel better about Newton

Hmmm, if he isn't playing for Casey tomorrow then perhaps he has already done enough to warrant a rd1 spot and he is just being rested after a long PS or something?

sammy123

Dees play game 2 on saturday have plenty of options to trade too

You would think so, his preseason form has been good.

VDB out would leave me with 140k looking for a scoring rookie.    May have to put Krakour back in to get DPP.  What is chance he plays.  Problem I see is he will be vested and slow burn

Can't see Krakouer playing to be honest, I guess the beauty of Richmond playing early is we know if Lambert will get the vest or not. This will shape my structure I think, particularly if Vandenberg is a no show.

Having read the link provided re. Vandenberg, it appears as though he is doubtful given he is recovering from preseason shoulder surgery. Could be back to the drawing board, Jed Anderson or Blaine Boekhorst, think I prefer Jed despite the sub risk.

Settle down mate - all just speculation at this stage. He's been fine playing in the NAB matches, no chance they would've played him if he still wasn't right

This is from a Dee's supporter who attends every training session, so i'd still expect him to be there round 1

Ok, I'll take your word for it. I absolutely want him play of course.
