The Playing Rookies Thread

I think 60-70 is realistic for Van Berlo but I can't see many better options that are real cheap. Currently my rookie priced players on each line are

Brown and Saad

VB, Newton, Cockatoo, Heeney, Vandenberg, Lambert and Krak (just took Laverde out since he has a groin injury)

Nankervis

Salem, Clark, Hogan and Lamb

The rookies I see with the best scoring potential (Anderson, Heeney, Lang, Lambert, Saad) either have poor job security or are rookie listed. With Van Berlo you are paying for the security that the others won't provide. You need to field at least 3 or 4 of these guys a week in the midfield and you can't risk starting guys wearing green each and every week (Boekhorst/Anderson are the main ones I worry about)

One of Cockatoo or Lang will be in my side round 1 but I can't see both playing and avoiding the vest. Cockatoo is in front of Lang based on tonight due to his two solid performances vs Lang who had a big one and sort of had a let down tonight.

I'm calling it very early but I think Cockatoo will end up being the best player out of the 2014 draft. He would have been taken in the draft a lot earlier if it weren't for his injuries leading up to the draft.

Bont will be the best out of the 2013 draft.

Everyone has a soft spot for the dees mate. Don't worry. But yeah if Cockatoo is named round 1.... think he's gonna have to take spot on my bench. I just like the look of him.

Agree his is very good. In terms of who will be the best player in a few years time its between Heeney, Weller and Cockatoo for me. This year Cockatoo and Heeney will be standouts


Can't believe ppl are jumping off NVB. He hasn't played footy for a year and he only has to score like a rookie to do his job
