No Ruck cover with set and forget rucks is fine, worth burning a trade for. You have 13 other premium keepers! If you were going a mid price team then trades can't be waisted.
Clark, Hogan will score enough times between 75-90 to make up for that.

Really think you need the ruck cover this year. You can't trade a premium out everytime they miss a week - It's just not a good use of a trade.

Can't afford to waiste cash which belly is. There will be 1 rookie by the start anyway, if not im willing to risk it.
Again I hope you are right with the Rookie 8)
But if not I will use the DPP option.

If a rookie ruck emerges over the summer then that changes everything, but at the end of the day Belly is priced at a mid 50's average and has 2 seasons of mid 80's average with Ryder in the side, so he is super cheap, will provide cover and make cash making him easy to upgrade to a premo forward prior to his bye

MS - Thanks for the nice comments :)

GM - Most teams seem to be going with 2-3 premo defenders but I'm going with 4 for now because there doesn't seem to be many rookie options down back, or cheap options that can score well. I've actually never had Hurn in my SC team over the years, even as a WCE supporter lol but I think with the captaincy now he can push mid 90's and is under-priced. Heath Shaw and Sam Fisher are also on my radar

I'm happy with my structure, selections and bye structure so I'll just sit on this until NAB now :)

EDIT: I'll actually change Mason Cox to Tom Read as Read plays less Friday's and will be available to switch more often

I've just made another change to M4 LOL

Ward was so damn good to me last year - he was the best pick I made so I'm going with him again for now

Sloane out - Ward in

DEF: Kade Simpson, Brodie Smith, Michael Hibberd, Shannon Hurn, Beau Waters, Brendan Whitecross (Matthew Dick, Harrison Wigg)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Callan Ward, Jobe Watson, Isaac Heeney, Aaron Vandenberg, Nathan Freeman (Jack Steele, Alex Neal-Bullen, Kane Lambert)

RUC: Nic Naitanui, Matthew Leuenberger (Tom Read)

FWD: Brett Deledio, Lance Franklin, Dane Swan, Tom Bellchambers, Mitch Clark, Jesse Hogan (Hugh Goddard, Nathan Krakouer)

$29,800 remaining

There's 4-5 guys fighting for that M4 spot, but for now it's Ward

Bye Structure is now 8/11/11 but in terms of keepers it's 4/6/4

Nice team RD, and I agree you can now just wait for NAB. My only thing to keep in mind would be with a 5 prem/6 rook midfield  and only 30k in the bank, what's your plan in the event that 6 mid rooks aren't playing round 1? Who gets downgraded to fund more secure options? As long as you have the plan that's fine, but imo I think that M6-M11 is a tad optimistic.

I'm in the same boat with a full team but only $28.5k in the bank
Would like to hear your back up plan as well RD because it may give some insight into mine
I currently have Danger at M5 and thought a downgrade to Cotchin or Crouch would be my back up plan and stick with my bye structure
you can see my team here: http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php?topic=99947.0

In terms of your team I really like it but you know that the issue of money is going to come up one way or another
Personally I would downgrade a backmen because its hard to get a read on them
Also I think a line has pretty much been put through Whitecross early on, can't remember where I read it but it sounds as if he will start through Box Hill and be assessed from there

RaisyDaisy

Cheers lads

At this stage of the year all we can do is put together a team that we like, and just sit back and wait

There's going to be plenty of hurdles coming up, so I will just make the necessary changes and go from there

This team is just based on the structure I like, but there is every chance I might need to go to 4 premo mids, 3 def etc and change the structure, but for now it's just sit back, wait and see :)

RaisyDaisy

Whitecross to Rookie
Hibberd to Fisher
Ward to Dangerfield
Leuey to Maric

I've just played around with those 4 changes and I think it nets me more team points overall and saves me a trade by now having Maric and not needing to upgrade Leuey in the future

I'm hearing that Whitecross wont line up rd1 most likely, so might as well grab cash and downgrade to a rookie. Apparently Fisher is as fit as he has ever been in years, and I reckon if fit he will average the same, if not more than Hibberd. I will probably lose 5-10 points with Ward to Danger, but should gain 15-25 points with Leuey to Maric

Old Team

DEF: Kade Simpson, Brodie Smith, Michael Hibberd, Shannon Hurn, Beau Waters, Brendan Whitecross (Matthew Dick, Harrison Wigg)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Callan Ward, Jobe Watson, Isaac Heeney, Aaron Vandenberg, Nathan Freeman (Jack Steele, Alex Neal-Bullen, Kane Lambert)

RUC: Nic Naitanui, Matthew Leuenberger (Tom Read)

FWD: Brett Deledio, Lance Franklin, Dane Swan, Tom Bellchambers, Mitch Clark, Jesse Hogan (Hugh Goddard, Nathan Krakouer)

8/11/11 Bye Structure

New Team

DEF: Kade Simpson, Brodie Smith, Sam Fisher, Shannon Hurn, Beau Waters, Daniel Viojo-Rainbow (Matthew Dick, Harrison Wigg)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Patrick Dangerfield, Jobe Watson, Isaac Heeney, Aaron Vandenberg, Nathan Freeman (Jack Steele, Alex Neal-Bullen, Kane Lambert)

RUC: Ivan Maric, Nic Naitanui (Tom Read)

FWD: Brett Deledio, Lance Franklin, Dane Swan, Tom Bellchambers, Mitch Clark, Jesse Hogan (Hugh Goddard, Nathan Krakouer)

9/11/10 Bye Structure

Thoughts?

Yeah I agree. Much prefer the Hibberd and Ward picks over Fisher and Danger. WhiteX can become a rookie anyway if he doesn't start R1, and Leuey to Maric IMO is not worth the loss of the 2 premos already mentioned.

RaisyDaisy

I agree lads, and have just done these changes instead

Whitecross to Rookie
Krakouer to Van Berlo via Steele

Reckon this makes things look even better

DEF: Kade Simpson, Brodie Smith, Michael Hibberd, Shannon Hurn, Beau Waters, Matthew Dick (Daniel Viojo-Rainbow, Harrison Wigg)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Callan Ward, Jobe Watson, Nathan Van Berlo, Isaac Heeney, Aaron Vandenberg,(Nathan Freeman, Alex Neal-Bullen, Kane Lambert)

RUC: Nic Naitanui, Matthew Leuenberger (Tom Read)

FWD: Brett Deledio, Lance Franklin, Dane Swan, Tom Bellchambers, Mitch Clark, Jesse Hogan (Hugh Goddard, Jack Steele)

9/10/11 Bye Structure

Thanks heaps fella's :)

Yeah I'll sit on this for a while. Looking forward to see Sam Fisher in NAB because if he is fit I reckon he will be a great pick, and pocket some cash by downgrade Hibberd/Simpson/Smith to him

Tom Mitchell is the other guy I really want to start. If he gets named Rd1 I reckon I'll find room for him - at 400k he can go 100+ I reckon

Other than that I'm pretty confident I'll keep most of this team as is.

Source? Last I heard in October was that he was ready to go. Some ff people said he wasn't and now that appears to be a theme

9/10/11 Bye Structure

Defence: strongest I've seen. Would prefer Shaw over Simpson myself, but that's just me. Waters at D5 is definitely the safest way to go. 10/10

Mids: No shortage of fire-power there. Like all 4 super-premiums. Watson at M5 AND NVB at M6 is a feat. Another 10/10.

Rucks: plenty of risk there. Could pay off. However, if I had a Leuey, I'd probably rather a safer Goldy at R1. But you have Belly for cover I guess. This line could well make or break the team, I like how you used the money elsewhere though. 7/10

Forward: no BJ? Swan and Belly at F3/4 runs a man short, but if you can get 4 solid rookies there (especially with 1 mid rookie less than most others), why not. Not sure why you would have HGoddard forward, but now's not the time to discuss rookies. 7/10

Great team.
