OK, so I am now more or less convinced that going with a weak forward line allowing me to go strong in all other lines is probably the way I am going to go

With that, I now have 2 teams that I would love to get some feedback on

DEF: Kade Simpson, Heath Shaw, Grant Birchall, Shannon Hurn, Sam Fisher, Brendan Whitecross (Hugh Goddard, Dillon Viojo-Rainbow)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Josh P Kennedy, Callan Ward, Isaac Heeney, Blaine Boekhorst, Nathan Freeman (Aaron Vandenberg, Jack Steele, Kane Lambert)

RUC: Ivan Maric, Nic Naitanui (Tom Read)

FWD: Dustin Martin, Dane Swan, Tom Bellchambers, Christian Salem, Mitch Clark, Patrick Karnezis (Jesse Hogan, Nathan Krakouer)

$1200 remaining which is very tight, but I could downgrade JPK to Watson, Birchall to Newnes etc to grab extra cash

Now for Team 2, I am toying around with starting the 3 Eagles rucks, which means I wouldn't need Bellchambers. The way I see it, both Lycett and Sinclair have FWD DPP, and with Darling out injured all 3 of them could be playing which means I can field Sinclair in the FWD line. If all 3 don't play, then I always have one for cover if another is an out, and I can bring F7 Hogan onto field if one of them isn't playing

DEF: Kade Simpson, Heath Shaw, Grant Birchall, Shannon Hurn, Sam Fisher, Brendan Whitecross (Hugh Goddard, Dillon Viojo-Rainbow)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Josh P Kennedy, Callan Ward, Isaac Heeney, Blaine Boekhorst, Nathan Freeman (Aaron Vandenberg, Jack Steele, Kane Lambert)

RUC: Nic Naitanui, Scott Lycett (Tom Read)

FWD: Dustin Martin, Dane Swan, Callum Sinclair, Christian Salem, Mitch Clark, Patrick Karnezis (Jesse Hogan, Nathan Krakouer)

Now obviously downgrading Maric to Lycett is most likely losing me points. Bellchambers should have better JS than Sinclair too, but I do get the above advantages I mentioned and it now gives me $153,800 which is I don't really know how to use lol. I would say that 150k would be used getting the best midfield rookies available come rd1 - should be able to get 2 200k rookies which on top of 5 premo's would make the team strong overall

eaglesman

I reckon all 3 could be playing mate ..
Not only with darling injury but also now Eric Mckenzie injury

Think forces McGovern to play permanent back will be ... Bennell McGovern Schofield hurn brown Yeo

Thinking lycett could play full forward as darling won't be there and have nic Nat Sinclair in the ruck

Money Shot

I really like both of these teams!
Love the idea of going weak in the forward line with so many rookies being available.
Good to see 5 mid premos.

Gigantor

I really like team 1, probably because it is very similar to mine  :P (6 players different!)
Still not convinced on the 3 Eagles ruck set-up. If all 3 play I think Lycett+Sinclair will average 150 ppg tops vs Maric+Belly 170-200 ppg, though your better mid rookies could offset this.
If only Lycett plays then you have 2 non scoring players early on which effects your cash generation

I wouldnt get all 3 WC ruckmen, 2 max

RaisyDaisy

Yeah at this stage I am starting to cool off on the 3 Eagle idea, and keeping Maric for the set and forget with Belly

Being so tight on cash I will most likely have to drop one of my defenders to a mid pricer to free up cash for mid rookies

I think I'd rather downgrade Birchall/Hurn to a Newnes/Adcock type. I can even downgrade JPK to Watson

Will just see how things go over the next few weeks

YoungGun

going a little weaker in the fwds i think is the best way to go, seeing your team has given me even more confidence in that strategy. I like it alot, apart from TBC but I completely understand your reasoning and not wanting to be burnt by a 1 week ruck absence

ive had 4 prem backs 4 prem mids and 4 prem fwds for most of the preseason but have just changed to 5 prem backs + ibbo then 4 prem mids and 3 prem fwds.

Hogan, Clark, Salem, Karny should easily outscore any back rookies that may pop up

Grufflez

tbh i don't really like either of those teams, i think 5 premo defenders will not be necessary and i don't like the weak forward line if not compensated by a 6th 500k+ mid, just my opinion sorry but i understand what you are trying to do based on a strong defense strategy that you believe is necessary, perhaps these structures will pan out, wait and see i guess, gl mate.

Time for another team :)

Really liking this one

DEF: Kade Simpson, Heath Shaw, Grant Birchall, Sam Fisher, Jack Newnes, Adam Saad (Nathan Brown, Hugh Goddard)

MID: Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Joel Selwood, Dayne Beams, Callan Ward, Nathan Van Berlo, Isaac Heeney, Aaron Vandenberg (Nathan Freeman, Touk Miller, Jack Steele)

RUC: Ivan Maric, Nic Naitanui (Tom Read)

FWD: Robbie Gray, Dane Swan, Tom Bellchambers, Mitch Clark, Patrick Karnezis, Kane Lambert (Jesse Hogan, Jack Lonie/Tom Lamb)

Pretty much got no money left, but I have options to generate cash easily if need be (NVB to rookie, Gray to someone else etc)

14 premo's plus Belly and NVB. Can move Lambert to mids if need be

RaisyDaisy

Should also note, I'm still keen on Salem and not turned off by his 40 in the NAB, but the cash I saved by dropping him allowed me to come up with this side, so he is out.... for now  :P

Gigantor

Can't fault that team at all, in fact I like it so much I might steal that structure haha
the only issue is the back rookies, but nothing new there

Bully

If D6 opens up like that I'll be doing cartwheels, Saad still a chance to be promoted but has some significant competition.

Think this is the best team you have produced thus far.

Differences with mine. You have gone 5 premo defence. I have gone 2 premo defence 2 400-420k guys and sheppard.
Same rookies.
Both have 5 prem mids yours are probably better to look at on paper but I am gambling that mine will
Score just as good.
I have mummy you have maric and I am unsure whether that money is worth the difference in score. I don't see 16 points difference between these 2. Phillips at 210k the bench for me
Gray swan also but Martin at f3 to your belly, I can see potential 25-30 point gap there ... Same rookies

Blues Blues Blues

That is a great team! I had to look closely to see how you afforded it!

Forward line weak with Swan at F2, but the rookies are solid and I think the strength of your defence and mids overcomes it.

Great job - best I've seen! I may copy!

Please don't! :P

Bully, I decided to go with Saad for now because my confidence in WhiteX is dropping more and more, and I'm going to back in that by the time rd1 comes around there should be a couple of defender rookies who get games

Cheers for the comments eaglesman :)

I mentioned how I could downgrade NVB or Gray to get cash, but I think the most likely option I would actually go with is downgrading Birchall to a mid pricer
