A new idea for a draft game - the International Fives!

The i5s (not to be confused with the iPhone 5s) is a SuperCoach based draft game, continuing over time! Not just limited to one season.

48 TEAMS! Separated into 8 groups of 6 teams each.

Each team drafts 16 players from the over 800 currently listed AFL players. Each week, you choose FIVE players to play (in any position, no captain). On average you'd expect 8 of your 16 players to be named in the AFL to play each week, so picking 5 from 8 SHOULD be doable.

For the future if the competition extends after this year, each franchise will be able to keep THREE players, but will need to draft the rest.

The Draft

Just because I don't want to have to wait FOREVER for each pick, there will be 6 separate drafts, each with 3 AFL teams to choose from. (Otherwise if you had pick 1, you would need to wait until pick 96 for your next go!!!).

For example (and this is example only).

Victoria, South Africa, Canada, Peru, United Kingdom, Greece, South Korea and Nepal would draft its players from Essendon, Adelaide and Brisbane players.

A different 8 teams would draft from a different 3 AFL clubs.

The Fixture

Rounds 1-5
You play every team in your group once. The top FOUR progress to the 'Continents' stage.

Rounds 6-9
Top 4 from Australia and Top 4 from Africa = Australia/African Continent
Top 4 from North America and Top 4 from South America = American Continent
Top 4 from North East Europe and Top 4 from South West Europe = Europe Continent
Top 4 from Asia-Pacific and Top 4 from South Asia = Asia Continent

Your results against the other 3 teams in your group carry over, and you play 4 matches against the the top 4 from the other Group.

I.e. Tasmania won all its matches against the other 3 teams in the Group Stages, so start this fixture with 3 wins - and play the 4 teams from the African Continent.

The top SIX from each Continent progress to the next stage - Final 24

Rounds 10-15
Top 6 from Australia/African Continent and Top 6 from American Continent = AAA Group
Top 6 from Europe Continent and Top 6 from Asia continent = EurAsia Group

Like before, your matches against the other 5 teams from your continent carry over. You play the other 6 teams in your new group once.

I.e. Tasmania won 4 and lost 1 from the other 5 teams in the Australia/Africa Continent. So they start this phase with 4 wins already. They then play the other 6 teams from the American Continent

The top FIVE from each group progress to the Final 10.

Rounds 16-20
Top 5 from AAA group + Top 5 from EurAsia Group = Final 10

Like before, your matches against the other 4 teams from your Group carry over. You play the 5 teams from the other Group.

i.e. Tassie won 2 and lost 2 against the other teams in the AAA Group, so start with 2 wins. They play the other 5 teams from EurAsia.

The Top 4 play off in finals - and the first time you will play a team twice.

I'm not sure about the separate draft thing though. Some groups of AFL teams are much stronger than others.

Will be away from 10th - 29th January so may hold up draft until I can get connection.

Not sure on limited draft as Memph says some teams stronger than others especially once you get past the top 4 or 5 players from lower ranked teams.

EDIT: I guess it should be Les Elephants (with accents that I can't put here because of copy/paste issues :(). Which, after Googling, I found out is the name of the national soccer team. Fitting.
