Hi Guys

trying to get a good starting point and have come up with this.

I have tried to look for value so the likes of GAJ, Rocky, Gray, Eski will all be upgrade targets.

I'm pretty sure some of these fanplanner prices are wrong so I have left a small kitty to cover this.

Salary cap left: $137,600

DEF:  Heath Shaw, Michael Hibberd, Andrew Walker, Garrick Ibbotson, Zak Jones, Kyle Langford
Hugh Goddard, Harrison Wigg

MID: Scott Pendlebury, Nathan Fyfe, Joel Selwood, Rory Sloane, Jack Steven, Daniel Wells, Blaine Boekhorst, Caleb Daniel
Nathan Freeman, Billy Stretch

RUCK: Nic Naitanui, Matthew Kreuzer
Matthew Leuenberger, Max King

FWD: Lance Franklin, Dustin Martin, Allen Christensen, Dane Swan, Mitchell Clark, Jesse Hogan
Jack Lonie, Jack Steele

thoughts ?

GM

Very nice starting team mate.
Probably the only thing for me is to get a Goddard or Lids in for Christensen who is a too injury prone.

Doggoneit

Thanks GM

I must admit I need to do some more research into Christensen.
I think he is a good fit for the Lions and the Lions are a good fit for him. IMO he will play a big role for them and therefore is reasonable value.
Reports are he hasn't missed any pre-season training.

There are some other options like Bennell, Smith or Dahlhaus

Lids would be my next best after Gray - happy for him to be an upgrade target but could well be starting come rd1

real prices and rookie availability will play a role in who fills this spot.

I agree he'll be a handy inclusion but I wandered down to training on Wednesday morning and he was on the bike for the bulk of the time, think he has another 6 weeks before he re-joins full training IIRC so something to monitor

Apart form that, good looking team, great structure

Very balanced early team.

Have to say that I'm not much of a wrap for A Walker. Great player, had a ripper 2013 but coach has had him in a different role this year. Also misses games consistently. Think the backline will be a mine field this year.

Like the pick of Jack Steven. Never had a pre season last year and came back with some solid games towards the end of this year. Rookies are a guess at this stage but I have seen some excellent reviews about Boekhorst, Daniel and Freeman.

Looking at the same ruck set up and playing a loop hole.

Agree with GM in regards to Christensen. Lids or Goddard would be better.

Excellent early team with some minor tinkering required.

Yeah I'm not sold on Walker yet - thought he was a chance to bounce back and last year wasn't terrible considering injuries
trouble is I'm not sold on any others apart from Eski - maybe Hurn? or wait to see wait the NAB brings to the table.

I commented on your team having the same rucks - the upside is huge but the risk is also big.
I have considered upgrading Nic Nat to Maric or Goldy.
My gut feel is NicNat could be a 120 player. He has pushed out 90+ the last 2 years while injury affected after his breakout 114 average in 2012.
If he is fit he might just go bang and I want to be on him when he does - so at this stage he stays.

GM

I personally think Brodie Smith is worth a close look mate.
My gut says he will go close to elite in 2015.

"Epert Coach" tag is no lie! #genius! I 100% agree about brodie smith. Probably a better pick than hibberd

Very good side although I agree with Smith being a close look but then again prefer Shaw and Hibberd over him. would go Walker to Smith and that team would look a lot better.

Out - A Walker : In - B Smith

I have had a better look at one B Smith - didn't know a lot about him to be honest.
At this stage I am happy to have him in my team - but will watch closely.
He has more upside than most defenders, which I like.

Team is now looking quite strong

I am happy to play with D4, F4 and M6 and shuffle/downgrade/upgrade to fit in with the available rookies.

My only other consideration is M5 - would prefer to upgrade Steven to say JPK but this will mean downgrading forwards.
I don't mind this idea as I think there will me more chances of breakout forwards than backs. I can pick of the best as they emerge rather than locking in too many to start.

thanks for all the feedback

Steven>Kennedy
Wells>rookie
Wouldn't that work?

Here is how it would look if I upgraded Steven to JPK

Note: Wingard, Wells and Ibbo are place holders and could be upgraded/downgraded, shuffled to fit with rookie availability - I am also happy to start with them and use them as stepping stones to the elite.

thoughts?

yes that could well happen, but I do like Wells as a stepping stone to Rocky/GAJ - Wells should climb to around $500k in quick time while Rocky could drop to around $600k.

GM

Great starting team Dog.
Lots of locks and a couple of uniques .
Like the B Smith inclusion.
Well done buddy.
