Thinking it might be time to look at a 4 premo defence, someone like Ibbotson, and Whitecross/rookie.

Or a 5 premo defence...

I think if Whitecross and Jones are lining up round 1 I will pick them both with two other rookies, probably Brown and whichever other one looks like they have the best job security

Yeh thinking that as well. Just not sold on Jones' JS at all

Atm I'm running with Simpson, Shaw, Hibberd, Lumumba, Ibbotson, Whitecross

I honestly reckom that 4/5 rookies will pop up after the nab. Last year Langford and Langdon were unknown before nab.

I had Waters at D6 with rookies at D7 and D8.

Now it's looking like it will be Newnes at D5 with rookies at D6 and D7 and most likely a floating donut at D8.

Wasn't going to go with the floating donut this year but it looks like I will now with Waters' interrupted pre-season.

Why do you need a floating donut man? Worst case NBrown can fill in D8 like Mat mentioned above

I wouldn't have worried about one with Waters at D6 as I wouldn't have needed to field a rookie. Now with a rookie at D6, I can have a very good chance of getting the best score from D6 or D7 every week providing my donut plays after one of them.

I have absolutely no interest in N Brown. He is expensive as far as rookie priced players go, he won't score enough to ever be put on the field and will barely make any cash.

I really think we'll stuggle to be able to pick 3 or more def rookies this year so the floating donut is looking likely for me.

Waters has truely thrown a spanner in the works. Good, makes it even more interesting.
I was originally looking at a defnce of 5 players above 400k with Waters at D6. With the chance to drop a 450k premo for a rookie  if there were enough available and upgrade other lines.
Now with Waters out, at worst Nathan Brown is a solid fallback onto the bench and rookie on field, plus it provides an extra 100k to use on other lines or expensive rookies who are playing.
Really everything is going to come down to how many rookies are available R1 on each line to determine the structure of teams.

                    Waters = Bock

flower off Waters is heaps better when fit :o

Waters since 2005 102 games, 8064 SC points = 79 average. Most points in a season and best average 1900/100.
Bock since 2005 117 games, 9710 SC points = 83 average. Most points in a season and best average 1980/100.

Have you been on Richmond's recruiting panel?

What's the point in looking at averages dating back to 2005? That's 10 years ago.
In the last 3 years bock has played 4 full games for an average of 74
Waters has played 26 games for an average of 95.5

Has been subbed out in 3 of last 6 games so only 3. Either way not a good assessment.

Bock has been great though too, in the second half of 2011 he average closer to 120

Well pick him at your peril. Waters may come out and star or he may retire, but his SC performance is very similar to Bock, just 2 years behind him. So if you want Bock's last few years, grab Waters and let us know how you go.  :'(

Turning Waters into Ibbotson is the other option I'm looking at.

The point of Brown is to get that extra coverage and 40 or so points when you have a late withdrawal on top of someone else already out. He isn't going to hit 300k, but he will give you points where they are needed instead of someone not playing a game all year

eaglesman

just means that 4 premo mids to start acres biggs boekhorst vandenberg fielded ... And extra prem to defence/Yeo

This - No one is picking Brown as a cash cow

Yep the only place NBrown is perfect for is D8. Anything higher than that and he shouldn't be there
