I've traded McGrath to Krakouer. Gives me cover forward (if needed).

Leaves be 297k for upgrades next week.

AaronKirk

Decent round just had. 2160 scored and up to 3,289 overall from just outside the top 10k

Here is my current team. 297k in the kitty and 27 trades left

Only 1 trade prior to round 4: McGrath out for Krakouer

Dunno about trades yet. I would think Tarrant will come in for one of my mid bench - probably Heeney by swinging Krak to the mids. Will make an upgrade somewhere, Dunno where that will be yet.

AaronKirk

Heeney to Ward and Clark to Tarrant locked in.

Ringo

Your team AK but just wondering whether Clark should be kept as it looks like only a week and he will make more cash with a negative B/E

Perhaps consider Newton to Tarrant via Krakouer to open up a DPP. Gives you an extra $50k as well.

The other option was to keep Clark and trade Newton to a Ward (open DPP with Heeney to Tarant).

However Newton's BE is only 12 will have the 84 in his rolling average for the next 2 weeks. Salem was also considered but again he has a low BE and is playing this week.

Clark has a history of injury concerns and I have all the needed rookies to make cash. It seems the most sensible move to trade him out.

Mat0369

I dunno, looking at your team I would have only gone the one trade considering you already have Krak and turn Heeney into Taz using Krak.

AaronKirk

Round 5 score was 2,170 and have dropped to 4,563 overall, I was expecting to drop further and I am disappointed after the start to the round not to go bigger.

Summary and team below. I have $17,700 in the bank and 25 trades left.

Trades were Heeney to Ward and Clark to Tarrant

Newnes has to go. He is a spud. He doesn't work hard enough to get the ball and when he gets it he chops it up.

Newnes to D.McKenzie locks cash in the bank and is locked in.

Without any standout defenders at this stage I am happy to use Saad, Oxley and McIntosh on field with Brown and McKenzie as cover on the bench and wait for the premo defenders to emerge.

There are 3 options for trade 2.

1) Salem to Buddy or Goddard - leaning to Goddard due to BE - a round 12 forward doesn't really affect my bye structure and Probably want both come seasons end.

2) Newton to Danger or Priddis - Danger at 522k is nearly must have and if Sloane cops the attention he could go really big. Helps with bye structure.

Keen on Priddis as well - has a soft draw and will improve as the season progresses, Had a similar pattern early last year.

I can only can pick one as M8 is definitely reserved for Rockliff around Bye time.

3) Newton to Buddy or Goddard via Krak DPP - Opens DPP up, which is tempting.

Whichever of Newton or Salem I keep would be traded out next week so I'm not too concerned with BE's. I am not too sure which option I will be going for. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Mat0369

If you are looking at Glenn next week I would dump Salem first.

I have Buddy already so I am partial towards him, can you afford or are you considering Dahl?

AaronKirk

Yeah Mat I can afford any forward and I have considered Dahlhaus.

Dahl helps with byes but he is expensive compared to Buddy and Goddard

He also doesn't have the scoring history that Buddy and Goddard have.

The bulldogs however have a great draw and Dahl could be a good POD.

Mat0369

The other thing with Dahl is he started last year on fire before ishing himself in the 2nd half of the season. I am not sold on BJ quite yet, they have Freo coming up this round and from the games I have watched he has been spending too much time forward

Ricochet

Yeh AK I'd upgrade Salem and go Newton to Glenn next week.

Buddy would be my pick. He always produces a massive score at least once a season, got a feeling it has to be soon

AaronKirk

With CEY out I am upgrading a premo mid this week.

Newnes to D.McKenzie + Newton to Dangerfield.

I will downgrade on of Miller/Vandenberg/Cripps to Glenn next week (whichever has the highest BE) then upgrade Salem to a premo.

I can use CEY as a loophole option.

Mat0369

Yeah I also intend on using CEY as a loophole option. It might not work with the rookies but it does allow you to have two stabs at a captain at least.

I only have 1 on field rookie  in the mids so not too worried.

AaronKirk

Not a great week with around 100 points on the bench and cost another 30 from taking Danger over Fyfe as Captain  >:(

Anyway 2,097 last week. Ranked 6,442 overall. Used 2 trades. Newnes to D.McKenzie and Newton to Danger. Summary and team below.

Looking at going Vandenberg to Stretch and Hogan to a premo - maybe Tom Mitchell.

If I went with those 2 trades I would have around 180k and probably would be able to go Salem/Lonie/Tarrant to Jacobs and Cripps to Rocky.
