Paul Seedsman, also known as 'The Seed', has shown glimpses of impressive football in his short career so far. He hasnt however been able to string together regular performances, with up and down form, and a lack of defensive abilities the main reasons. He looks brilliant streaming down the ground, taking the game on and kicking long, but tends to go missing in between. At 22 he has considerable upside however, and with just a bit of work could turn into a handy AFL, and SC player.
Scored 80+ in five of nine games last year, with a sub score of 16 bringing his average down from 74 without that game. Had a high score of 89. His average from 2013 jumps to 83 without sub affected games. Can score very well when he gets the ball, if he can raise his possession numbers from an average of 16 in full games last year, to 20-24 touches a games, he should have a very good output.

Pros

Age & Talent - Possesses great speed and agility when given the space to run with the ball. Likes to kick long and is a pretty hand kick too. If he is able to find the ball and do this just a few more times a game his scores will drastically improve. A good height off the backline at 189cm, but with a very light frame, will only improve with another preseason under his belt.

More Game Time - With Maxwell and Lumumba gone from the pies backline a position on the half back flank is really Seedsmans to lose this year. Likely to be given first crack at the departed Lumumbas spot on the back flank. Could  also be given some time on the wing swapping with Young or Sidebottom.

Cons
Defensive Capabilities - The main reason he has yet to cement a spot in the side so far. Tends to go missing, and isnt great in a one-on-one contest in defence. Whilst his run and long kicking is what gets him the SC points, if he cant develop his defensive attributes it puts pressure on his place in the team.

Sub Candidate - As a previously borderline player, with explosive speed, is a chance to see the subs vest, as was the case in two of his nine games last season.

Prediction 90

Final Word - I can see Seedsman, at 22, really having a breakout year. With the departures at Collingwood he should see good game time, and with another preseason under his belt his year seems the perfect timing for him to start taking advantage of the talent thats been seen in glimpse so far. SC friendly he takes the game on, kicks long and is effective, all good point scorers. Has a top score of 145 from 2013 showing what he can do when he gets it right for a game.
He is still a risk though, whilst he could break out, he could still throw in some shockers and has not yet cemented his spot in the side beyond doubt. Keep a close eye on him in the pre-season and consider as a player with good upside, but some risk.

Jukes

I say lock him in, guy is a beast and has to go huge sometime soon. Very valuable part of my WXV team and is pretty cheap in SC.

Is that weight correct? 72 kgs is veryyyy light for a 22 year old at that height. Sure its not 82 or even 92?

87 kg I believe, Wiki and Fanfooty listed as 72 though

Fixed it up, I thought it was strange when I did it. 190 and 87kg. Good size really but still looks skinny by AFL standards
