Who will score higher?

Birchall or Newnes?

For me birchall's range is 89-95 and Newnes is 84-100.

Newnes seems like a boom or bust option... Thoughts?
Birchall, proven and better bye.

For me , Newnes will rise in price and will play a midfield role.
Birch will always be ok , but when he has a fwd tag it is not a good day.

Such a risky team man, and I don't want to ramble on about what everyone has previously said regarding your defence and other positions which looks shaky, but you obviously have your reasons. Genuinely like your structure, think it could really work man and only 4 rookies on field is impressive. I'd like to see Henderson and Martin go, preferably for other mid pricers such as Ibbo/Geary/Gilbert in defence possibly and anyone under the salary cap in your forward line (just don't think Jmart is upto it yet).
Rocky is expensive and I'd look elsewhere but that's your choice again - Rucks are strong and very impressive mate, and the rest of your team (including your rookies) are sound. Love the pick of Garlett, think he can really start the year well (80+ average) IF AND ONLY in form and I'd monitor the NAB cup for that, otherwise he'd be taking the spot of someone else because he really is a confidence player and he'd burn you pretty bad if he averaged low 60's or 70's.

Best of luck and thanks for your hard work on RMSC, you've done a power of work. Keep it up champ.

So on this point I can see 5 risks in the defence. Hibberd (ASADA), Newnes (who I will start), Henderson (unknown role), Macmillan (JS, role?) and Waters (injury history).

Personally I don't think you can cut out the risk this year in defence. It is too difficult and everyone will be having fingers crossed that their picks work out.

Hibberd (for now) should become another premo.

Hendo and Macmillan should become a premo and a rookie.

Still a lot of risk there but not as much.

J.Martin is a gamble at F4, maybe it is worth the risk there. I wouldn't pick Jeffy. He isn't a keeper and I doubt he will make enough cash to be a decent stepping stone.

Obviously it is a decent platform to work with but a massive gamble if you do start with 5 mid pricers and 2 higher priced cheapies in NVB and Biggs.

Start with reply to wato, firstly thanks a heap mate! Your work on rmsc is top notch too.
And AK also for the feed back.

Henderson I too am not really sure about, but I think if Brodie Smith makes the expected move into the middle there will be points on offer for him. But yes for now his role is a problem.

Did some digging on Macmillan and in 2013 9/22 scores were above 80. JS I don't see as a problem as I've heard he's highly rated at North and also because they rushed him back off a broken leg to play the finals.

I really like Jmart... O'meara will be underdone and lucky to line up r1 at this point. This opens a huge spot of Martin in the midfield over the opening 4-7 rounds depending on omeara's fitness. He had 4 scores over 80 in Gazza's absence including a 119,94. Not to mention the 5kg+ he has put on.

Jeffy/M.Grigg/S.Kerridge/C.Knights are my F5 options and if M.Clark has a really good run from now to rd1 he will probably take that spot. If m.grigg was 100% going to play 22 games without the green best then he'd be in for me. Until then Garlett is my best bet. Even if he averages 70 he makes me 110k.

That's the reasoning behind the selections at this point, there have been some points where I have looked at my team and though way to risky but the fact I have 12 players who should be in the top 8-10 players in there position takes away the riskiness of it slightly.

Mid Price Selection strategy is as followed..
If the 5 true midpricers I have rise to around 380k+ I'll take that. average of 72+ which is not much to ask for looking at the players I have selected. They all have the capacity to go 80+ but I'm fully aware that anywhere between 0-5 of them could. That does worry me.

Hopefully ^ this creates some awesome discussion! :P

Dons

I reckon this could be the year to take risks, esp in the back line. Waters at D6 looks great, I'm trying to do the same. I like the $200k mid picks too, and have m6-8 filled with them myself. It's certainly easier to trade them to a rookie you missed than trade a dud rookie to one of them if they kill the first 2 weeks. Like the structure a lot.

Money Shot

Really think at this stage Clark is a lock.
Garlett to Clark
Martin to Mitchell

And I would also try and do something about that defence.
Maybe Macmillan to Rookie and then Henderson to a keeper?

apart from that it is a solid side.

fasttrack13

Clark still not back to full time training yet...

I turned Henderson into Yeo (yeo could breakout into a keeper)
Garlett to M.Grigg

MS I 100% agree with what your saying but at this stage there aren't enough 50/50 rookies in defence and even fwd to do so. I'd rather trade to those rookies than out of them for now...

Yeah that is fair enough!
If Clark doesn't get up my team is flowered :(
Yeo is a good pick should go around 80 in my opinion.
Not sure on Grigg though!

fasttrack13

Yeo has been talked up a lot so far this year.
Grigg is only a maybe for now, like I said if he were guaranteed 22 games without the green vest he'd be a shoe in for 85+. But it's no guarantee he will line up. Hopefully new coach has something to say about that.

A Lot of teams are reliant on m.clark which is why I've decided not to start him. Until he is a certainty.

Change Up:

DEF: H.Shaw, M.Hibberd, J.Newnes, E.Yeo, J.Macmillan, B.Whitecross (D.Viojo-Rainbow, D.McKenzie)
MID: G.Ablett, T.Rockliff, S.Pendlebury, O.Wines, B.Acres, S.Biggs, I.Heeney, B.Boekhorst (A.Vandenberg, N.Freeman, N.Krakeour)
RUC: T.Goldstein, N.Naitanui (T.Nankervis)
FWD: B.Goddard, D.Martin, D.Swan, D.Thomas, J.Martin, J.Hogan (J.Steele, K.Lambert)
Salary: $10,900

This preseason shenanigans has thrown me well off! I see enough 100% keepers to counter the risks in Daisy, Jmart, Yeo, wines, Macmillan...

I see ten 100% keepers which is not enough.

Shaw, Hibberd, Ablett, Rocky, Pendles, Goldy, Nic Nat, Goddard, Dusty and Swan.

Newnes and Wines might turn out to be keepers. I would keep them in the side.

I don't think Yeo, Macmillan, Daisy or J Martin will be keepers. I would try to turn two of these guys into premiums and downgrade the other two to cheap rookies.

Then you would have 12 definite keepers as well as Newnes and Wines. I think that team would look great.
