Haven't even thought about byes.
Was going to go with Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Watson  but that won't be happening

fasttrack13

surprised about the lack of love for sloane... he keeps improving 105,107,114 last 3 years and should lift again. He wont get a tag either... . 19/22 hundreds, low score of 78 high score 172. Super consistent, huge ceiling. Few more captain scores as he gets better and he could average 115-125 in 2015.

generally when players break into the premo scoring bracket for the first time they struggle to back it up or improve further the following year

I think the real reason that most people pass on Sloane is that there are always other players priced more or less the same that just seem more attractive

Depending on byes, I really want to start Jelwood this year. Something like Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Fyfe, then if possible a cheaper fallen off M5, someone like Swan or even Jobe if possible

All depends on how many decent guns are available to start in other lines, and how many playing rookies will be available

Mr.Witt

My midfield so far is
Pendles, Fyfe, Jelwood, Sloane and Kennedy with rookies.
I love Sloane even if he doesn't improve you cant go past 100-120 every week especially early on.
The players I have picked in my opinion will be the top 5 at the end of the year  ::)
There will probably be a lot of disagreement with people saying Rocky and Ablett but I don't think they will be as dominant this year. and if they are I will look at them as upgrade targets.
I am considering Watson, Heppell and Cotchin though as they are good value picks.

That's where the byes are a killer, Swanny and Jobe share the same bye as Gaz, Pendles and Fyfe. Five mids out in the one round would suck!
If Fyfe's shoulder isn't right Sloane might be the man to replace him, even though I said JPK was next best ???

I really wanna start Gibbs Mat, what are your thoughts?

I think it depends on byes but he could be a really good POD. He had his best season last year in what was a contract season, I would expect Murph to still get the most attention so he shouldn't see a tag every week.

Putting further thought into it, you want the best possible 8 starting mids at the end of the season, you want to have 8 of the top 15 guys the way I look at it. I don't know if Gibbs would be top 15 but he should be close and he is durable. For a league win yes, for overall he might be too risky. He is too expensive to be a stepping stone so he has to be a keeper

You're probably very right man, but his big scores are big and he's very tempting. His first few weeks he has reasonably easier teams, and I'm very much willing to bite the bullet much like I did with Cotch last year. May not have to be a keeper man, we never know, I'd be prepared to trade if need be, but it's not a preference.

Mat0369

I think with the injury carnage last season trades will be sacred. He does have a huge sealing but I think he went under 70 a couple of times which hurt his average. His durability is a plus, but again, if you are going for overall you want to finish with 8 top 15 scorers and he is too expensive to burn a trade on later on. If you are picking guys in the 500k bracket you want to make sure they kill it.

SHORT MEMORIES!!!

Fact 1 - Best average of any first year player under 21 years old, ever.

Fact 2 - Finished last year with: 132, 107, 117, 161, 111, 141, 131. That's 900 points in 7 weeks! 128.6 average.

It happened.

Call me crazy, I am thinking of this starting lineup

Pendles, Sidebottom, Hanners, Scott Selwood, Jack Steven and a bunch of rookies

There might be a couple of guys in the 300k range that I have forgotten.

The reason for no Gaz is his shoulder at the moment, Jack Steven becomes Gaz if Gaz is fit

Pendles is Pendles

Sidebottom, after the first two rounds last year he dropped under 100 3 times and a 118 average. He also had some huge scores of 178, 155 and 145.

Selwood should be cheap and average around 100. I look at him like Moloney and Hayes a few years back

Hanners had the slow start then went nuts before he got injured. He also had a couple of huge games in round 23 and first final against the Dockers. His injury and slow start has him underpriced so he is great value, I think a hell of a lot better then someone like Swan.

Jack Steven had no pre-season last year which killed him and then struggled when he returned. He is probably the riskiest of the guys I listed which is why I am hesitant on him

Greene is also one I am considering, so are Treloar, Shiel and Griffen. O'Meara is one that could go on to average 110+ at the Suns this year, Crouch could go 105+ for the Crows, it is going to come down to price, how much of a pre-season they have and bye structure
