all over lumumba.. okay ???

belly should be good to average 60 this year.. nice pick up  :P

Brayshaw is over priced... you can pick up a rookie for 117K who will play as much and score as much.

Hurn is broken and overpriced. better options than him.
Lumumba could be a good pickup considering his price. I'm not too keen myself, but could be a good pick.
Unless Belly gets injured like twice, he should go around the 80-85 mark like he did in 2013 and 2012.
It's a lot easier to swap Brayshaw to a 117k rookie than it is to upgrade a 117k rookie to Brayshaw.
Please tell of all the options better than Hurn? If you trust that he won't get injured this year, then he's a top 10 defender easy. And you can't say that about most defenders this year.

Simpson,Hibberd,Shaw,B.smith,Newnes all top 10 defenders...there is 5 and feel free to remind me if i am wrong.
If Hurn goes 92-93+ he will be thereabouts.

Hurn averaged more than Hibberd unsubbed last year IIRC, FWIW.
Smith had his first good year, could drop a bit this year if he receives more attention
Newnes all hype atm, will have to prove it in the season proper. Hurn way ahead of him.

I'd say Eski, Simpson, Shaw, Hibberd, Hurn would go top 10, Birchall and Smith should as well

Hype around Newnes is justified from what St Kilda have said many times, unlike many other players being talked up in the preseason, if B.Smith plays mid who will tag him ahead of Danger/Sloane?
And you keep talking about Hurn having the perfect year..which he hasnt so far in like 5/6 years so i think you need to factor in a sub score again or 2....Hurn is a decent option but so are these others. 90+ and 20 games for Hurn would be money well spent i grant you.

There's still no guarantee Newnes can go 90+ though. I think he's definitely a chance, but Hurn has the runs on the board, and don't think the captaincy will hurt his scores either, so can't see him dropping his avg. I agree that Smith should go top 10, just have him a tad behind Hurn in case he does cop some attention. Hurn has been copping the tag for years and still manages to produce good scores. But if Smith is allowed to roam free all year, I'd have him in the top 5 or 6 defenders this year without a doubt.
Also, in both of the games Hurn got injured in the last 2 years, they happened in the 1st quarter IIRC which really hurts. I doubt that's gonna happen for the 3rd year in a row, but I guess that is my opinion. But there's no doubts as to his scoring ability, and if he can put together 20 (or 22 ;)) games like you said, will be one of the better picks in defence this year.

Not sure how Wright fits in at Gold Coast. I'd be surprised if he played early. Lobb or Nankervis for R3 if you are looking for someone who could get games this season.

Notes
- Basically I've left enough cash at R3 for a rookie ruck to pop up like a Lobb, Phillips, PWright or Durdin. If that fails then Leuey becomes R2, TMitchell becomes Belly, and R3 becomes a basement priced rookie FWD/RUCK. ;)
- Willing to take the punt on Ibbo at D5 if Freo's key backs are fit and firing. If not then Yeo or Seedsman will be considered here.
- Tossing up between Pendles and Fyfe. Pendles is more durable but for some reason I have a gut feeling he may feel the impact of no Beams. I don't know how/why, its just a feeling.
- In terms of premo keepers (+Belly) my bye structure is 3/6/5 which I can work with.

How is Karnezis tracking? If fit he probably would sit in the pies 22, but need to see him have a decent NAB challenge to consider him.

Pendles clearly over Fyfe.
Bucks said that Karny will get senior opportunities this year after a strong preseason in one of his pressers so I've just got him in there atm as a wait and see.

Yeh mate pretty sold on him. Has been dong all inside midfield work at training at Melb and thriving in match simulations from all reports.

Can see Belly easily going 80+. Has done it before and will again as the Bombers #1 ruck. Just gotta get through the ASADA shower

Brayshaw is a gun. No other rookie will come close. And if any do pop up in NAB I can downgrade him to them, but I'm pretty sold on him.

Like?
Malceski is at a new club that is significantly weaker than his old. His previous years of scoring were 90.4  74.7  67.8  so is really overpriced.
BSmith is coming off an AA breakout year and will cop more attention. Plus role isn't fully known yet
Newnes definitely isn't top 10
Don't want too many bombers boys in case the ASADA shower goes south and have too many to fix up, so no to Hibberd at this stage
Not too many others worth starting who will def be top 10

Agree with GL.
Also not sold on the hype of Newnes, like others ahead of him.

essendon

Round 1 is basically over and no one can copy your team now.
So, the time has come!!
How did ricos boys line up this season!!!????

Ricochet

Ha not quite over yet mate :P
Very average start for me tho with Rocky, Newnes, Ibbo, DMartin, Lumumba all throwing up stinkers in the same round. Lucky this game goes for a whole season hey
