ICC pls, indoor cricket should be a thing.

this might be a stupid question but I've asked plenty before so what's one more

if the unlikely event that the game is called off today and they have to play tomorrow, do they start where they left off or do they start again, toss and all?

Pretty sure they continue from where they left off. So if there was no more play today, then tomorrow NZ would be batting, and chasing ~264 in 38 overs

but why wouldn't they let Saf keep batting? I think that favours NZ massively

Because then you risk not getting a match at all if the reserve day gets rained out again.

And it's now 43 overs a side, play resumes in 15 minutes
