Afev. Watto far from won us the game. Would say Clarke maxwell smith way ahead of his innings with bat. And Starc and faulkners efforts with bowl were way in front of him. He was spanked for over ten and over and got a lucky wicket. Glad he got some runs finally. But it seems that was a batters paradise with big scores from both sides.

Just to clarify, according to one of the commentators involved with the Aussie team Marsh was under no injury and it had no effect on the decision for him to be dropped.

I think it would have been very easy to lose without Watson's supporting role in that partnership - would have likely ended up with 320-330 and then the game is all of a sudden extremely tight.
Also took the wicket that pretty much sealed the game removing the only remaining threat for Australia.

To call for him to get dropped on that performance is ludicrous.

He has a wealth of experience, he isn't being picked on 'potential'. He has met his potential. He has been one of the premier ODI players in the world. He has experience.
He averages 40 with the bat and 30 with the ball in 180 odd matches. That's a lot more experience and success than the majority of our team.

The issue with him has been form, why would you drop him now that he shows a glimpse. This team is immeasurably better with an in form Watson than it is with an in form Marsh. FACT.

Watson is a high quality one-day player. I'd be more concerned about our limited overs spin stocks than I would be about Watson.

Shouldn't have taken Doherty.
Lets just hope that Maxwell and Clarke can hold down some overs for the rest of the tournament. Luckily for us seamers are far more damaging in both NZ and Aus.

Still think we have to work out our best bowling attack. If not for the Watson/ Maxwell large partnership could have struggled remember Maxi was dropped on 73 as well as 97.

As one commentator said we are batting 4 7s in Watson, Maxwell, Faulkner and Haddin  and we would be in strife if our top 4 failed and were say 3/20 like we were in NZ,  Whilst all the plaudits are going to Maxwell remember is was set up by our top 4 especially Clarke and Smith allowing these hitters to take advantage in the last 15 overs.

So you're saying George Baileys World Cup isn't over yet? I think he could come in for Watson. Doing that thigh means Maxwell and Clarke have to share the final 10 overs, with the four quicks bowling ten each.

Or even: Finch -> Bailey and Watson/Haddin opens.
