Irrelevant. Clarke needs the time in the middle. Once we got to 200, it was game over.

Not only are there plenty of games for Clarke to have 'time in the middle', but the bigger our score, the more unlikely the Afghanis will get close which is important for our NRR.

Would love to see these Afghani bowlers get some real experience.  Bowling good yorkers so imagine what they would be with more competition.

Plenty of games? The game against Sri Lanka is basically a must win.. We needed to use this warm up game to actually help us long term, ie giving our best batsman a chance to get some form back.

Avoiding having one of our few specialist batsman scratchy is so much more important than NRR.

They're definitely an up and coming side, which is really good for the game. Soon to be a top 10 team you'd think.

Maxi needed 16 off 12 to beat the record for the fastest WC hundred at the start of the over, it's a shame he didn't get it.

I have faith that Pup's done enough work to date to play a good innings when we need him most in the game against Lanka. Yes, he could have been put in, but it's clear they've had no interest in doing that seeing as they're brought in Maxi, Faulks, MMarsh and Hadds respectively when if they really wanted for him to bat, even for a little, they could have.

I think he'll be fine, because as you said, he's still one of the team's best batsmen.

Rusty00

NRR is irrelevant for us because of the wash out against Bangladesh.

Oh yeah, that's a good point. Just so used to thinking of how crucial it normally is in these situations.

Just having a read of Twitter, interesting to see the reactions to Pup not coming out to bat.

not having twitter is glorious
It's hilarious. Everything from calling Pup a coward for sending himself out to bat to jokes about him batting down the order and being a tail-ender.

You know whilst watching that innings from Australia, I noticed something. When Hamid Hassan took that wicket, forgot who, I think it was Smith, he had the yell and celebration. And at the time you might think like why bother you've lost, but think about how big this is for Afghanistan. This bloke, playing in a cricket World Cup, has got the wicket of Steve Smith, who is one of the worlds best going around. No one can take that away from him. And how the supporters celebrate their wickets like they've won the whole World Cup, I think it's brilliant. It's one of the things I actually really admire about the Asian nations, it means so much. I think the rest of the world can learn from it.
