Being picked up by the cross-town rivals is always fun.  :o

Mr.Craig

I think it's a prerequisite for Port supporters to be one-eyed.

stoked with grabbing Ramsey for next-to-nothing. Some people saying he'd go Top 40 in the Draft.

Anthony Wilson is a good grab as well, should add some outside dash.

Still think we should have gone Matty Panos or Jono Beech though!

Found it odd with the first pick in Reilly O'Brien when Sturt local Tom Read was right there? ???

Happy to nab Ramsey though, can play both ends too. Odd they didn't bother to pick up Bampton? :o

O'Brien over Read surprised me. But Read is definitely a project player and we've got Dear who's apparently one as well. Haven't seen any highlights of O'Brien so don't know how ready-made he is, but he was born in '95 I think?

Bampton didn't fit our needs - we've got enough midfielders who can play inside already I think... Thompson, Danger, Sloane, the Crouch bros, Douglas, Grigg, Lyons, etc

This article on Ramsey choked me up a little when I read it.

great achievement for a guy with only one eye and a great example on you to use adversity to your benefit

These paragraphs really sum it up:

Ogilvie said having one eye could actually prove a benefit for the defender.

"We've watched him closely and, you know what, sometimes it might actually be a strength because it makes him concentrate harder," Ogilvie said.

"His defensive positioning is way more advanced than some defenders because he thinks about it and knows where he has to get."

It's a good story the Keenan Ramsey story. Very happy this guy got a chance and rapt the Crows gave it to him. I played a bit of footy with a guy called Greg Edwards here in SA, he lossed an eye playing against Glenelg for Central Districts and could never fully get back to SANFL level with one eye, he said he couldn't judge the speed of the ball. I think Keenan loosing his eye so young to cancer he doesn't really know any different and has managed to overcome it. Good luck to him he's already a favourite of mine, great story.

Updated the Rookies into the OP  :)

Tominator

still surprised we didn't select Jono Beech.

Very happy with Ramsey getting picked up - he was considered for our 2nd national draft pick, not our 2nd rookie draft pick

Wilson seems like he has the outside dash we need, and I don't know a lot about O'Brien so can't comment on him!
