I'm shocked, awful news. RIP.
Hopefully everyone gets around Sean Abbott, too.
Yeah was shocked to hear of his passing, his poor mother too

November, death in the Melbourne Cup and now a Shield match

There is sport and there is life, reminding us of how precious it really is!
Yep, feel for all of his family and friends.

This tweet really got to me
@DanielCherny: 63 not out. Forever. Vale Phillip Hughes.

Still hard to believe. Everyone says he was a wonderful humble country lad. A young Aussie on the verge of getting back in the Test team. taken so early in his life. So sad for his family and friends. Also hope everyone rallies around Abbott. R.I.P Phil

Would have been his 26th birthday on Sunday too.  :(

Fuuuuccckkk. :'(

That day will be hell for his family. :'(

SydneyRox

Horrible thing to have happened. Thought he was older than 25 (or nearly 26) which makes it even more tragic

They cant play the test now out of respect. Feel very sorry for Sean Abbott who wasnt doing anything except playing cricket, but now has to live with what has happened.

Nige

Thought this was a good tweet.

Tom Cooper would be an emotional wreck right now. Housemates, batting partners and best friends. Saw it unfold right in front of him.

Football Factory

Didnt think i would ever see something like this happen, shocked and feeling for his family.

RIP Phillip Hughes

From Reddit, quoted from Peter Lalor.

"Selectors had earmarked him as the replacement for Chris Rogers when the senior opener retires, but whenever it was suggested to him that the wait was dragging on he would smile and reply that he had plenty of time.

Nobody ever imagined that wasn't the case."

R.I.P Phil ☹

The Michael Clarke Captain this and that from the media shows how out of touch journalism really is, it is his friend, he did what he did because he loved that person, not because he had an image to uphold.
