Since his huge 2011 season, Marc Murphy has really struggled to become a consistent fantasy option as a result of increasing attention from taggers. From Round 2 to Round 11 the Carlton skipper went on a bit of a hot streak, averaging close to 110 points per game, but dropped off significantly after that, only breaking the ton twice in the last 10 games. And while he showed his huge scoring ability at times with three 140+ games, these were scattered with eleven sub-90 games, underlining his struggle to handle tags. When he gets off the leash, he goes massive, but when he gets attention from taggers, he really struggles. Until he can really break those tags consistently then it will be hard to pick him as a genuine midfield option.

Pros - Huge ceiling, good tackle numbers

Cons - Susceptible to tags, inconsistent


Prediction - 96-100

Verdict - It's hard to see any real improvement from Murphy until he can break tags consistently. If Gibbs continues to emerge as a genuine midfield threat then he might take some heat off of his skipper, but he's a risky option to start with in 2015.
