Profile

I was watching a replay of the Hawthorn vs GWS game yesterday and was struck by just how good Whitfield could be when he's switched on. The former No.1 draft pick had a very difficult season with injury and his year was ended in Round 17 when he went in for shoulder surgery. Between Rounds 11 and 17 he got in to a groove, averaging a very respectable 90.8 and if he can have a less interrupted 2015 then you might expect something similar. The challenge will be getting enough of the ball when he is surrounded by magnets such as Treloar, Ward, Griffen and Greene. Also his tackling is poor at the moment, making it very difficult to post a big score unless he gatherers a big chunk of possessions and marks. Premium numbers seem a way off but he should rise in value next year.

Pros - Tracking upwards, gets plenty of marks

Cons - Competition from other GWS mids, low tackle numbers

Prediction - 86-91

Good right up Mr Craig.

Looks a good prospect. But as you said they have soo many midfilders. The ones you mentioned + Shiel, Coniglio, Scully, Hoskin-elliot, Smith can even run through. They have a solid 10 mids.. Crazy to see how they are going to be in 2-3 years time. A few will be requesting trades for better opportunities for sure once all fighting for those same spots!

Josh Kelly is better. LW should be played on a back flank as a rebounder.

Sh1tt.. Another good mid, add him to the mix too!

I'm confident this guy will only get better.

He's slowly showing signs of really being a good #1 pick.

I won't be picking him, but his fantasy output is surely only going to improve.
