Profile

After finally reaching premium status in 2013, Griffen plummeted back down to earth with opposition attention, back issues and problems behind the scenes all taking their toll. He had his lowest disposal count in five seasons and the lowest marking average of his entire career which led to some truly horrible sub-50 scores. The consensus seems to be that Griffen will get the opposition tagger and take the heat of Ward but I'd like to think there will be some rebound in his numbers. His price is very tempting when you look at what Ryan did in 2013 however I find it hard to imagine him making it to keeper status so you'd probably end up earning 30k-50k off him then being forced to trade to a better option.

Pros - New start, proven performer

Cons - Tagging, has only averaged over 100 once in his career

Prediction - 90-94

With Ward, as well as the emerging likes of Shiel, Coniglio and Treloar, I think some of the pressure will be taken off him. For me, he's locked at M5. He's priced ridiculously low at an average of 85. With an uniterrupted pre-season, I think the minimum he will average is 95. I think he will average 100+.

In 2013 he was tagged everyweek in a midfield with less support for him, so if he can get back to his best form I don't think it will be too much of an issue.

Yeah I agree, he is definitely under consideration, plus he claimed that he was not enjoying footy this year...and would have been awesome if he hadn't smashed out 144 in the final round ::)

It'll be diffcult for me to select a player who has no soul.

I have a real feeling one of Griffen, Ward or Treloar will be in the top 8 mids next year.
The question is, which one......

Does a reinvigorated Griffen get back to 2013, or does his presence allow Treloar/Ward to rack up at will?
Very interested.

I'm starting both Ward and Griffen, hopefully it can be both of them  :P

I'm also thinking that one of Coniglio or Whitfield could explode into the 90-95+ range as well...

Ricochet

I'm leaning towards Ward over Griff when looking at the GWS boys. Just think Griff will still cop the tag at GWS and Ward may be set free

Capper

I dont think you can start him but after a slow start you might be able to get him cheaper

Holz

too many unknowns with GWS I might end up with one of them but its just too risky to start them I think.

LF

I am just not a fan of Griff no matter what price he is at.
He cannot handle being tagged his constant battle with his back injury.
Maybe a full preseason will help him but still cannot justify starting with him.

Money

I've had him locked since the move! At 85 average at the year he had is pure bargain! I have been tempted to take him out on occasion for a uber premo but its value that to go to refuse! Surely 100+?
