my supercoach Idea

hi everyone, I've had this idea for a while and have forwarded it to supercoach feedback as an idea to keep people playing regularly as more of an incentive to play the following year.

My idea is to allow the coach the next season to use the money they make from their team from the previous season(above the salary cap of course) to put toward spending on extra trades for the season. For example.

Some people manage to make around 1.5 to 2.5 Million maximum in earnings beyond the salary cap......why not allow players to use that extra money made to spend on a trade valued at say 500K (plus any extra money you have) to put toward a trade ?

Maybe call it a supertrade ???

The logic is that NOBODY competitive enough in the competition will ever have more than 6 extra trades to use in the season, most people will average 2 or 3.

That way you can literally be a "supercoach" If you are working on long term success by building up your buffer each season and work toward getting that elusive Supercoach win (overall win I mean).

Id love to hear people's thoughts on this including any expansion or modification to the idea.

Cheers :)

It's an interesting idea, but I dunno. Most people who have been playing for a number of years would be able to get their team value over $12mil fairly easily each year. So that's an extra 4+ trades, taking us to 34. IMO that makes it a bit too easy to build a really strong team, and means the coaches who actually pick a good starting team and manage it well throughout the season are at a disadvantage, because the guys a little bit behind can catch up with those trades (whereas the very top people won't really be able to improve their side with the extra trades as they'll already be premos all round).

Like I said, it's an interesting idea, but I don't think it would work very well.

Szaboss

but isnt that the luck of the draw....... who picks a good team and who doesnt ? There are some people that will be unlucky with certain trades through injury and so forth, and we dont know who will get injured, dropped so forth in coming games

Holz

It's unfair to those who go for rankings each year and creates incentive for multiple accounts

I would just tank this year and go all rookies than next year have 3-4 extra trades and go for the 50k..

I do however think buying trades isn't a bad idea but just on a year on year thing.

So say your down to 1 trade and 100k in the bank and ablett + buddy goes down.

I go ablett 700k to 600k mid now have 200k and buy I trade for 200k. So I can straight swap buddy for anyone.

Not exactly luck of the draw. The people who are bad at SC will probably get 2 extra trades, and waste them anyway.

The people who are good, will get 4+ extra. Then what'll basically happen is the ones who get hit by injuries or maybe take a risk that doesn't pay off can use those extra trades to make a quick fix-up, whereas the ones who didn't have that sort of bad luck will just use them to better their depth or something, which probably won't have any effect on their best 22 anyway. So it just makes the people at the top closer, and the people at the back fall further behind.

The thing I love about SC in comparison to AF is that you only have a limited amount of trades, and it's about who can use them best. Having an extra 4 trades would mean you can basically make "risk-free" trades, which kinda takes some of the fun out of it IMO. Each to their own though.

well i suppose I never thought of tanking being an issue but if a workaround could be found then the idea could be possible ?

Maybe for those who buy supercoach gold could be given an extra 2 trades to use in the season as an Idea maybe ?

That's going down the pay to win route

If I had two extra trades by going gold 2 years ago and the top 2 didn't I would have 50k right now.

Thoughts on the buying trades out of this years bank?

My idea is to allow the coach the next season to use the money they make from their team from the previous season (above the salary cap of course) to put toward spending on extra trades for the season. For example.

While that might be an incentive for returning coaches, it would create a very strong disincentive for new players. Given that fantasy football is primarily an advertising delivery system those who control it want as many participants and eyeballs as they can get which means creating a product that is accessible to everyone.

If you were to create an idea where people were to earn an extra trade, wouldn't the fairest way possible be that you take a hit scoring wise? So say if you ran out, it'd cost you 100-200 points for an extra trade as an example.

Eg. In Rd 21 you run out of trades but need an extra one to move someone who got injured - you take a scoring hit for that round and say if you scored 2,500 you'd only get 2,300-2,400? So you'd be at a disadvantage for that round and lose spots in the overall chase but you've gained the luxury of getting yourself an extra trade and hope in the remaining rounds that your player you choose can gain back those points you lost? Think it's a very plausible idea for those who do become desperate. Opinions?

I think it a pretty fair system at the moment...  only 2 things annoy me...

rolling lockout - its good but if you can't access game info/SC then your at a disadvantage.
Subs - im hoping the sub is scraped this year and have 4 on the bench with capped rotations...!!

SC idea

I like to be able to trade more people each week, due to mass amounts of injuries this year...   so i'd like to say you can make upto 4 trade max, with the stipulation that if you trade 4 in one week you can't trade any the following.. so you can only trade a max of 4 over a 2 week period...  during the bye period you could increase to 5......

Example.

Week 1    Week 2    Week 3     Week 4
0              4              0             4
1              3              1             3
2              2              2             2
3              1              3             1
4              0              4             0

allowing you to do more trade's over 1 week, but less the following...  will help covering injuries/suspensions/late outs....

I like this idea; it would create more of a distinction between those going for league and overall, which could be viewed either way. My focus is always league, but managed a decent overall ranking this year. Whilst I won my league gf thanks to keeping 2 trades for it, I still ate 1 donut and this could have been avoided by saving an extra trade or 2 for the last weeks of finals. Overall players could also use extra trades after week 2 instead of using any after week 1.

The AFL has already said this won't be happening.

I quite like the idea, but if you havent noticed, the fantasy games are continually trying to make it easier for new or inexperienced players to increase the number of players (and therefore page hits)

By making the top group multiple year players they will lose the on/off players from the start.

Having said that, if you were to start a website and get this idea rolling could be a winner, assuming you address some of the issues listed above

meow meow

So instead of being shower for one year, I have to be shower for 2? No thanks.

200K to buy a trade isn't the worst idea I've ever heard though.

Capper

i like the idea of buying trades but i would make the first one $200k, the increase the next to $220k

I dont mind the idea you have put forward but it will be hard to manage on SCs part. You will also be over the salary cap and likely fined (lose money) and lose draft picks (trades) for being over the salary cap
