bowls <5 overs  99% of the matches he plays...thats why he is judged for his batting! and IMO to be applicable for number 3 you should have a 45+ average

Then we would have no one to bat number 3

SydneyRox

Almost scores a hundred, almost gets a hat trick, was almost enough to keep him in the team...

Khawaja's 28, Quiney's 32, Cooper's 28 and already plays internationally for Netherlands and Doolan's 29. I don't think any of them will be playing for the next 7-10 years.  :P

Khawaja sucked, Quiney sucked. Doolan is decent but not any better than Watson

Khawaja could... and it is 20x better than keeping with a guy that couldn't score a hundred to save his life!

Toga

Khawaja has also done his ACL so won't be batting for Australia anytime soon regardless...

Did you see Khawaja's last test series? It was in England 2013 Ashes and he scored over 25 once. In 17 innings he's passed 50 twice. He's useless at international level.

What I would do to maximize Watson's usage as an all rounder is bring in Cowan to 3, who really can't put his hand up anymore than possible and drop Watson down to 6 and use him as a bowling all rounder. He's a much better bowler than people give him credit for

Toga

^Don't mind that - I rate Watson's bowling, and they might as well see how he fares lower down in the batting order.

Nige

No to Khawaja, but yes to Cowan? Pls.

Think most people are looking to the future Mailman, Cowan's not the future.

PowerBug

The future number 3 is in the lineup already, his name is Steve Smith
Leader of the King Karl Amon fan club
Coach of WXV side Rio De Janeiro Jaguars
2023 SC: Rank 126

Nige

I still think Smiddy should stay at 4.

Jay

Another element to the Hughes passing is that he was the best bat we had who wasn't already in the side. Now we're down to the likes of old guys (Cowan, Voges) or younger blokes who aren't good enough (Khawaja)

I want Smith at 3, he's our best (fit) batsman and that means he should be at 3. Imagine what Ponting would have averaged batting at 4 or 5.

Wether the spider cam actually interfeared with the drop catch or not .....

Why the flog do we believe a word channel 9 has to say about it? Of course they will say it didn't hit the wire ::)
