yeah but Watson doesn't bowl enough to be an allrounder! His bowling has looked awful this series! granted hes got a wicket but not many.

Agree with most of what you said, but disagree his bowling has looked awful. At times he has certainly looked the most threatening of the bowlers for me, yes he hasn't picked up many wickets but he has been unlucky not to, and the ones he has picked up have been crucial.

I agree he is in ordinary form and really shouldnt have many more chances, but I'd only be replacing him with Mitch Marsh who is injured or possibly Faulkner. As I said Agar has done absolutely nothing to warrant selection, averaging 26 batting and 62 bowling in this sheffield shield season, I would be extremely disappointed if Watson was dropped for him.

Would much rather Siddle picked than Starc, Siddle is not done yet.
I think we might roll with Starc, as he is a lefty, like Johnson. Would much rather Siddle though.

Really? Imo Starc > Siddle. Looking to the future and Starc, although slightly erratic has bowled some amazing spells in the BBL.

I agree, although Dorff is the goat :3

The problem is Starc can't bowl 6 good balls in a row to save his life. I don't really rate Sids, but think he is probably better than Starc, at this stage at least.

Nige

Starc's exactly like Mitchy though, which is why he's almost certain to replace him. He's just not as consistent or menacing.

bring Patto or Cummins in for Mitch!

Can't wait to see these two back in the squad, but won't happen as yet.

Starc will come in for MJ, you'd think. No way I'd drop Watto for Agar, he's not done yet!

Tominator

I'd like to see Siddle come in before Starc. Sure Siddle underperformed in Adelaide but he was sick and it was a bad deck for pace. Siddle may also need a Test to come back and prove his credentials for the West Indies and the Ashes. One good Test would throw him right back into calculations for those Tours.

IMO, Starc is too erratic with the red ball and just leaks runs at the moment. I also don't like how he's being managed - in and out of the team, 1 Test here, 1 Test there - no continuity and no chance to really build up his red ball form

Personally I'd like to see him go back and play Shield cricket and build up his red ball form there, and earn his recall rather than be picked on potential.

Just my 2c

PowerBug

Siddle is a flog and he's past it. If the best thing you can say about a player being in the team is that he's a "good bloke" the you've probably got the wrong man. I would be picking Starc over him for sure. Has Dorff done anything at FCC level to warrant a spot? Can't pick a bloke based on BBL form, and it's not the WACA either.

Siddle is done Torm. Wont see that head playing tests again. 1 banana too many in the end i think! Hes lost what pace he had, and doesnt do enough with the ball. Not a fan of the starc selection either... But options are limited. Any seamers been killing the shield games besides Dorf?

Nige

Time to get Gurinder Sandhu in the side.

Ringo

Reports now that Hazlewood is sore and may miss as well.

Yeah I think that's the reason he was picked, selectors like the variation and him creating rough for Lyon.

Please, we can't use BBL form as any reason whatsoever for a test inclusion... Looking to the future sure, but I'd have a lot of other young bowlers ahead of Starc, albeit some are injured. Siddle is only 30, Harris is still bowling well and he's 35. Sids is not done yet.

"They're exactly the same, but one's not as consistent or menacing". What? How are they exactly the same then? I sort of get at what you're saying, but Johnno at the moment is a far far better bowler than Starc, consistency is so vital in tests in building pressure, you can't have Starc bowling pies once every couple of overs.

These guys are definitely the future, would love to see them in but unfortunately not quite ready yet. I really think our pace attack will be ridiculously good in the coming years, with Patto, Cummins and Hazlewood starting and the likes of Coulter-Nile, Beherendorff and others in the wings.

Promising and has a decent record but hasn't done enough yet.

I'm sorry, but are we better going off no cricket at all? Its all we have, and although a vastly different game Starc is clearly a confidence player. Bowling well in the BBL will naturally transfer into better spells at test level.

Siddle is not Harris. Harris >>>> Siddle.

Just a thought .......

Why does Starc deserve a Test recall based on 2 BBL overs that were unplayable, given how badly he bowled a month ago?

Why does CA insist on playing a long drawn out BBL right during a Test series?

No other thoughts but how are any fast bowlers like Siddle, Starc, Patto, Cummins supposed to prove themselves and/or come into the Test side and be expected to perform at a Long version format?
