True that, If Watson's going out then sure, Agar can go in as an all rounder, but I just think that in the long term Boyce is a better option as a bowler.

I agree, Boyce is most likely a superior bowler.

It'd be a differen story if Lyon was coming out, but its not Lyon, its Watson.

Hate hate hate the Agar addition. Has not shown anything whatsoever to warrant it, averaging mid 20s with the bat and over 50 with the ball in shield this year. He's not good enough to bat in the top 6, he's not in the best 4 bowlers, why get him?

If we wanted another spinner I agree Boyce was the next best option, and Holland, Muirhead and Zampa are all better than Agar.

People are saying drop Watson, and although he is frustrating I think he should hold his spot. His stats alone are actually very respectable for an allrounder - 36 average batting and 32 with the ball. I've always rated his bowling over his batting, but I guess as he is batting at 3 and not bowling as much he is being judged more as a specialist batsman, and his performances there have not been that great. Dropping him for Agar though would be a mistake.

yeah but Watson doesn't bowl enough to be an allrounder! His bowling has looked awful this series! granted hes got a wicket but not many.

he doesn't field anywhere bar slip-and also drops catches! cant run at all because of his injuries, to put it nicely:
He needs to go the way of Old Yella!

has a high score of 50 odd this series and last, which for a number 3 is nowhere good enough.

if he was to be judged as a specialist batsmen his average needs to be high 40's! its only 36!
replace him with Faulkner, Agar, Maxwell, Boyce ANYBODY! move Smith/Marsh to 3 and we will be right! our fast bowlers wont get as tired because we have another quality option that can bowl more than 8 overs a day!

Agar is West Aussie. West Australia Best Australia. End of story.

Kellogscrunchynut

Watson has not picked up more than 1 wicket in an innings since that test where Australia got skittled by South Africa for 40 odd in 2011 and his average with the bat this past year has been less than 30.

If we want someone who can bowl questionable medium pace and not worry about them getting wickets and whom can also maintain an average of 30 we might as well put Matthew Wade in the side.

The answer is simple just load our team with fast bowlers 6 or 7 not only will it give us a awesome attack but they outscore our batsmen on a regular basis  :P

GoLions

Is there any reason why Faulkner wouldn't come in over Agar?
