That's a great side!
cant really fault it but with the 66k I would look at getting another super premium mid in just for that stability apart from that it is an amazing side with good pods.

Would love your thoughts on Fisher, Lumumba and Jones.
It's been said that there aren't too many actual locks in the backs this year and so a now fit Sam Fisher is perfectly capable of being in the top 10 defenders if he plays the right role imo, he could easily score as much as some of the more favoured and expensive options.

Heritier's been a pick of mine, or at least somebody I've been considering, from the moment he moved to the Dees. With DPP and news of him playing in the midfield and at stoppages, it's hard to ignore him, especially at his price when he could feasibly notch some quality scores.

Jones is one of those in contention to fill Malceski's place in the Swans team and is probably one of the more likely cheaper options down back that actually look like lining up in Round 1, that's enough for me to plant him at D6 for now and if he's not named, word on the street is that Hugh Goddard could well be on the park for the Saints' first game.

As for the midfield, I've considered maybe using it to get in somebody for Jack Steven, but he's pretty cheap for what he can produce and the money could potentially be used to get in somebody like a Whitecross if they're ready to go and Jones/HGoddard are not.

This is v6, which was an attempt to get another solid premo mid in and also in the event that Waters isn't ready to go since there's been talk of a setback or something.

D: B.Smith, M.Hibberd, S.Fisher, H.Lumumba, B.Whitecross, Z.Jones (M.Dick, B.Maynard)
M: G.Ablett, M.Priddis, M.Barlow, A.Treloar, N.Van Berlo, S.Biggs, B.Boekhorst, N.Freeman (I.Heeney, A.Vandenberg, J.Steele)
R: S.Mumford, I.Maric (T.Nankervis)
F: B.Deledio, B.Goddard, D.Martin, D.Swan, M.Clark, J.Hogan (H.Goddard, C.Daniel)

Still got $38,100 which should be enough.

Basically went:
Waters -> WhiteX, HGoddard -> Dick
Steven -> Barlow
Membrey -> HGoddard

I think it's now a bit more reliable, but thoughts are always appreciated.

Big Mac

Well, it's certainly mediocre! I like it 8)

Would definitely have a contingency plan though in case two decent rookies don't show up and Whitex/Jones don't get games

Yeah, that's plan C.  :P

Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but if it does, I think I'll have to do away with maybe Dane Swan.

I think if you are going to run with 4 premo mids you need to bring in one of Pendles, Rocky, Jelwood etc.

And just hope that the rookies will emerge in the defence.

Money Shot

Pretty good side now.
Love the Mumford pick (if he stays fit :P) and also Maric as a pod.
If you were to go Goldy/Nic Nat you would save money and in my opinion score around the same amount of points as Mum and Maric and you could use that money on either getting a stronger defence or Getting another super premo in that mids.

would love your thoughts on mine :)

Nige

Decided to have another go and I've got this now. We're up to v7 now.

B.Smith, M.Hibberd, S.Hurn, S.Fisher, H.Lumumba, B.Whitecross (M.Dick, A.Saad)
G.Ablett, T.Rockliff, M.Priddis, A.Treloar, N. Van Berlo, S.Biggs, B.Boekhorst, N.Freeman (I.Heeney, A.Vandenberg, K.Lambert)
S.Mumford, I.Maric (T.Nankervis)
B.Deledio, B.Goddard, D.Martin, M.Clark, P.Karnezis, J.Hogan (J.Steele, J.Lonie)

$10,300 left to work with.

Really happy with that. Bench rookies are placeholders, but at the same time are guys I've got an eye on and would like to have if possible.

Thoughts/feedback etc always appreciated.  8)

I love the structure of this team, and you have those POD's across the board which you obviously have your reasons for picking! Maric, Rocky, Treloar, Lumumba are guys that I won't be looking at going into the season but that's what makes it an even bigger payoff if they work out

Cheers mate!

Yeah, there are a few blokes like Treloar that people might not be picking, but a POD is sometimes the difference. I'm hoping I've got it right this season after being well behind the 8-ball in seasons past.

Swan
Had him for ages but recently dropped him for Karnezis which allowed me to put an extra premo down back and get Rocky in my mids. Given the forward rookies available, I reckon this setup should work (there's scope to shuffle around the rookies). There's a decent chance I may drop one of my beloved Tiges in Lids or Dusty for Swanny though.

Downgrade Delidio/Goddard to Swan and use the money else where (you will get more points from Swan.)

I don't really think Swan will score more than Lids or Goddard to be honest, their averages and ppg should be similar, at least imo.

The question is really whether I want the 100k-ish the downgrade would give me, but I can't really see where I'd use it. The only thing would may be upgrading Hurn for example to Malceski.

Are you set on the likes of Priddis, Trealor, Lumumba and Fisher?

Very much so, especially because they're all PODs to some degree.

Nige

Made a few changes from the team above.

Whitecross -> Clancee
Rockliff -> DBeams
NVB -> PCripps
Tweet -> Newton
BGoddard -> Swan

Got $24,400 left. I can downgrade one of Cripps/Newton/Biggs to a less expensive rookie like Anderson/Touk etc and that would give me the cash to turn Clancee (D6) into somebody like Geary.
