If this kid was 10-15cm taller, he would be a top 10 pick without a doubt.

Top 1 if he was 10 cms taller. I reckon he will fail at AFL level if a club tries to turn him into a small forward though.
That's my worry too.

It's kinda what's happened to Matt Arnot so far imo.

And why do you say that? See how smart he is in the forward 50? He would handle being a small forward better than a small midfielder.

His kicking and general ball use is also greatly underrated and despite appearing like a relic of the 80's

Haha, ain't that the truth!

Athletically he tested very similarly to Billy Hartung so a wing is the likely destination. His SANFL finals form was also super impressive, versus the Eagles he had 16 touches 2 goals, versus Sturt 24 touches, 3 clearances, versus Port Adelaide 20 touches 4 clearances. He's only 3 cm shorter than Jake Neade so there's hope for him, he measured in at 167.2 cm at the combine which is exactly the same height as Boomer Harvey.

His vision up field to find the right target and hit it every time is his best attribute. Being a finisher is a waste of this talent that very few players possess. If he was played as a high half forward like Devon it would be fine, but not as a crumbing small forward pocket. He has elite running power and that would also be wasted if he was trapped inside the forward line.

I don't think his height will hold him back. He has the smarts, awareness and workrate to make it as a wing. Hartung has better burst speed, Daniel is not quick. I'd play him in a role very similar to Sidebottom. An outside accumulator. When was the last time Sidebottom used his height for anything, other than the leaping elbow?
If you look at Harvey you will see a strong build and a very quick player. CD is neither of these.

It's going to be very interesting to see where Daniel gets selected this year.

Daniel ran a 2.99sec/20metre sprint at the SA combine, that puts him in the top 30% for speed. Sidebottom ran a 3.25sec/20metre sprint, they both have a 16+ beep test to their name.

They must have been outstanding marks to leave that much of an impression on you, since he only had 6 of them for the season.
