Pendlebury is another fantasy gun,he had only 2 scores under 100 this season. Will be hard to look past starting him next season.Prices of these mid premos will determine which combination of them you chose to start next season.

kilbluff1985

bye structure will mostly determine if i start him or not

_wato

Have to choose him just based on his consistency.

Will be cheaper than last year also. Lock, see you later.

Vinny

Locked.

For now at least, he is the most reliable player after Gaz.

I dunno about Pendles. On the plus side, he's so consistent that it's 1 less player you have to worry about each week. However, I can't see his price increasing much more than what he starts at. Whereas with someone like Rockliff, he could start like a house on fire and go way up in price (or the other way around and get fairly cheap).

I'm gonna have a hard time deciding on my starting mids next year :-\

That also means he isn't going to decrease in price and you wont get him any cheaper. Think he is the most reliable of all midfielders, especially at 50k odd cheaper than GAJ and Rocky, Rocky might maintain is scoring, but could easily see him dropping 100k in price, which is just much less liklely with Pendles, locked.

Scott Pendlebury is amongst the elite of the competition, one of the top 5 players in the AFL and this transfers across to SC where he has averaged 124+ the past four seasons running, and only missing 5 games in the same period. Not lightening quick or explosive from the contest, but seems to have more time with the ball in hand than anyone else and is an extremely good user of the ball both on the inside and outside. Picks up a lot of tackles reading he play well and getting to the drop of the ball. In recent seasons has developed his marking to take more advantage of his height advantage over most other midfielders.

Pros

Role & Age - At 26 and in the prime years of his career, Pendlebury will continue to lead Collingwood from the front. He occasionally rests forward but is a predominant midfielder and will always be in the play, especially with the loss of Beams and Ball, Pendlebury will always be around the ball.

Game Style - Perfectly suited to SC. Gets a good mix of contesed and uncontested ball, uses it very well and gets averages 5-6 tackles a game. Kicking a few extra goals is the thing that holds him back from producing Ablett like 135 averages.

Consistency - In the past two seasons boasts SC 100s in 39 of 43 games. Of the four scores under, three were in the 90s, and has a low score of 88 from the past two seasons.

Cons

More Attention? - Pendlebury has always coped well with tags and they have rarely impacted his scoring greatly. However with Beams and Ball moving on, and Swan getting older teams will more attention than ever into Pendlebury without the worries of getting cut to pieces by the other midfielders. This and Collingwood likely having a less than 50/50 record next year could impact his scoring. On the flip side, his young teammates could look for him even more, in the mould of Ablett in his first year at GC.

Post Season Surgery - Had shoulder surgery in the post season but it wasnt a major operation and he should still complete 90% of pre-season. Wouldnt think it would be an issue but worth a mention.
Prediction - 125-130

Final Word
Can you start without Pendlebury? Sure. Are there are a lot of other good midfield players? Sure. Should you start without Pendlebury? No way. Is the number one player at his club, in the prime years of his career, is a proven and super reliable top scorer, and has practically no history of soft tissue injuries. Lock him in and enjoy 110-160 scores all year, due to his consistency is unlikely to have any dramatic price drops so no real reason to wait and believe he will have a big price drop. Most other top mids, including Rockliff, Selwood, GAJ are all more likely to drop from their starting price at some stage.

That's what I'm saying. You start Pendles, and Rocky could either post some decent scores, go down 50-100k, you get him cheaper. Or, he goes massive early on, meaning you need to fork out an extra 50-100k from his starting price or wait for him to go down again which could take a while (and you miss out on all those big scores).
In comparison, you start Rocky, and he posts decent scores, goes down in price, you get Pendles for the same as what he started (which means you probably should've started with Pendles). Or Rocky goes amazing, and you get Pendles for his same starting price, win/win.

I still have no idea who I want as M2, will be a last minute decision.

Scott Pendlebury.

A top 3 mid? Yes.

Will he drop in price? No.

Just lock him in, then.

Hellopplz

I love Pendles, safe option and can just lock him away. I usually do that with him and Jelwood, can just bank on them :D.

I mean, who can go against those past 4 seasons' averages? And when he did drop in price below 600k, it was the part of the season everybody would be running low on trades anyway.

Actually didn't start him this year and regretted every second of it until I got him in. Locked in for next year with GAJ and Rocky

Yeah same here mate, that 182 he scored was the killer and it was only Round 2.. Was chasing tail all year until I got him in after that.

Holz

I just cant imagine not having him in my team. Has got to the point where really there are just 6 midfield spots to pick with Ablett and Pendlebury just a default at M1 M2.

I pick those two than start building my team with 28 positions to fill.
