Hurts more than Ryder as I love the guy... I can understand wanting to get out of the club (as sad as it makes me feel to say that) but he was retiring more than anything due to his body :-\ and that has always been a big issue (29 only 120 odd games) so I'll be shocked if they offering more than a year...

Just about done with this at this point. Heard this rumour about a week ago and thought nothing of it - It's Licha right, bleeds red and black, Essendon supporter growing up, club has had a lot of faith in him through some difficult injuries.

Pretty gutted at this.

this is turning into the worst week ever... licka leaving will destroy me... I want to take time off work to go cry at home in bed

Just an observation and do noit want to start anything in this thread are some of these issues a result of the coaching saga with some players not wanting to play under Hird.

Great decision from Licka. The club is in shambles and i wouldn't be surprised if more try to get out over the next few days to abandon the sinking ship!

However, there are others. like Howlett saying they wont play unless Hird stays.

Sounds like so much more division than has been there for the last two years.

I'm so glad Howlett's manager came out and said that. Gives me hope.

completely agree..there's obviously a division among the players on who they want to coach and the media has fueled this fire.

although I agree with your observation ... i find it difficult to NOT to be sympathetic considering the constant barrage from the media/opposing supporters such as yourself.

I feel no need to stick the knife in an already wounded club / supporter base

Don't think so. Winderlich has been a vocal supporter of Hird through this entire saga. I would suspect he is upset at the way Hird has been treated over the last couple of weeks by the club/media and just wants to escape from the chaos. Hird still seems to have the support of the playing group.

Jason leaving would just be the icing on the cake for a shambled club along with Paddy, Howlett to Carlton would be the cherry on top. Can't believe this has all happened to Essendon in the space of 2 years.
