Pretty self explanatory, lets get some discussion going that is different to most of the noise surrounding the Bombers at the moment.

People will just bag us in this thread also ::)

Capper

Bomber just said on AFL 360 that it was an option that he will stay at the bombers!!

I honestly think the club should cut official ties with Hird and move forward with Thompson.

Hird, no matter what outcome this saga has, will never be truly absolved. This will always be his responsibility and if he's genuinely committed to the club it is time for him to make the decision that is best for Essendon and remove himself from the situation, particularly if he wants to continue pursuing action in court - last I heard that was his intention.
This ordeal has been a disaster for the fans and players of the club, and has been drawn out far beyond what it should have been. I understand that a lot of supporters did and still do support the crusade, however it has done nothing but damage the morale of this football club and there is no reasonable outcome in which we will escape sanctions, delaying it through court action only prolongs the suffering for those invested in the club.

It is clear by this point that James Hird is adamant of his innocence, which is fine however his personal endeavours have created too much chaos and he has certainly established that he is a rather haughty football citizen, and as much as I appreciate his contributions to Essendon, the most gracious approach would be to disassociate. I do support his attempt to clear his name, however this needs to be done individual of Essendon and of football entirely.

I am certainly bitter that it is my club that has been at the centre of this catastrophe. Although I am uninvolved with the club on any official capacity, aside from being a member, I have been persecuted by opposition supporters in much the same way those responsible have. I have listened to the players I adored be denigrated and incriminated, and been desperately afraid that the club I have been so passionate about for some 20 odd years be irreparably damaged.

It's not a crisis which will be forgotten with James at the football club, and as much as it is painful to be hoping one of our greatest names leaves it is necessary, I would imagine every other supporter is as exhausted and upset as I am at this, two years later and it remains a sensitive issue.

With Thompson there is some hope that the club can begin to stride ahead of these issues, he has escaped scrutiny and is a well liked and well adjusted character that perhaps can make some progress in repairing the club. His skill in the craft of coaching is well documented, and his passion has been restored by this unfortunate situation.

Bomber doesn't want to be a permanent coach

Ricochet

I think it was posted somewhere else earlier but you boys have rejected Ports initial offer for Ryder.

Also talk of Bomber being interviewed by GC for a head coach role

Major concern is that he'll be snapped up by another club.

Yeah I was thinking regardless of innocence to go on battling this long and still come out with no positives of the club that Little and Hird would've stood down immediately

Essendon defender Courtenay Dempsey will remain at the football club next season according to his manager, despite reports in the Herald Sun last month suggesting that he was on the move to the Gold Coast, where his family and kids are living.

AFEV

I thought his family was in Cairns?

And yeah MM you would have thought, I think they feel like the supporters have endorsed the challenge all the way and they are obligated to attempt to clear themselves and indirectly the club itself. In reality that section is only the most vocal, I would estimate the majority of supporters only want this to end at this point, this was promised by the courts however has only damaged our reputation as a footballing citizen even further.

Time for them to go.

Rumor has it that Paul Little has called an emergency meeting at windy hill due to Hird wanting to appeal (as the club is not appealing and angry that Hird has gone alone)

furthermore this brings speculation that Hird may be sacked.....if this rumor is true I hope that you boys lock Bomber as coach before Gold Coast grab him!
