After a phenomenal 2013 where Selwood was one of the highest averaging players in the comp, it all came crashing down with an ongoing ankle complaint restricting his performances while also returning to an almost exclusive tagging role. What this means for next season is that he will be significantly undervalued for what we know he's capable of and should also receive a small discount. His ability to find the ball and high tackle numbers will ensure he still puts in big scores at times but if Scott goes back to sacrificing his game to stop opponents then it's going to be an unpleasant rollercoaster. You would really want him to get back up around the 100 mark to make him worthwhile and I question whether that will be possible.

Pros - Good ceiling, high tackle numbers

Cons - Tagging roles, poor kick/handball ratio

Wonder whether he is reaching an age where younger blokes will be called on to play those tagging roles. Bit too much of a risk for me, but if he gets a solid run at just playing his own game, could be a worthwhile investment...
