With Heeney officially joining last night, does he contend straight away for a starting spot over Lloyd/Cunningham?

Some real interesting choices for the coach to make! You would have to say Cunners is safe IMO, Lloyd??

it would be a tough call to drop Lloyd for Heeney after Lloyd's performances this year

Mailman the 2nd

I think he does at some point, but I'd be surprised if he plays more than 5-7 games.

Remember guys like Craig Bird were dropped to the NEAFL at the beginning of the year so I think there will be a bit of shuffling around guys like B.Jack, Heeney, Mitchell and Lloyd until Horse finds his right combination

My Chumps

Definitely think Mitchell has to be in our best 21. Got crushed in the contested ball in that grand final.

From afl.com today - our round 1 team

Sydney Swans

B: Nick Smith, Ted Richards, Sam Reid
HB: Gary Rohan, Heath Grundy, Dane Rampe
C: Kieren Jack, Josh Kennedy, Harry Cunningham
HF: Tom Mitchell, Lance Franklin, Dan Hannebery
F: Adam Goodes, Kurt Tippett, Ben McGlynn
R: Mike Pyke, Luke Parker, Jarrad McVeigh
I/C: Rhyce Shaw, Lewis Jetta, Craig Bird
Sub: Jake Lloyd

New players: None
Unavailable: Alex Johnson (knee)

Comment: Expect minor tweaks to the Swans' best line-up after their crushing Grand Final defeat. Sam Reid could vacate a crowded forward line and look to add to size in defence, while Gary Rohan shapes as a full-time replacement off half-back for departed All Australian Nick Malceski. Tom Mitchell has made an eye-catching start to pre-season and the time may be right to thrust the clearance specialist into senior football consistently, easing in off half-forward. Disappointing Grand Final performances shouldn't force Lewis Jetta and Jake Lloyd out of the team, but there will be pressure ahead of round one from prized draftee Isaac Heeney and Brandon Jack, who is yet to carve out his role at the Swans. Zak Jones has enjoyed a strong start to pre-season and is eyeing a role in the backline

Definitely will be, or at least given every opportunity. He tore apart North in the Prelim and with more application in 2015 he can easily be a faster version of rhyce shaw

Yeah, he looked good. This is his starting position, though Zak Jones is aiming for the same role.

The Sydney Swans coaching team has reshuffled ahead of the 2015 season, with Josh Francou stepping up to the senior coaching ranks.

Francou, who headed up the club's development department for the past 12 months, will take on a new role as an assistant midfield coach next season alongside Stuart Dew, who will continue his role as midfield and strategy coach.

With Francou moving into the senior role, Marty Mattner will take on a new role within the club's development department, while Jared Crouch will step up as the Head of Development.
