The relevant part...

The Swans have committed to three Academy players in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft, as well as rookies Jake Lloyd and Xavier Richards, who have been promoted to the senior list.

It is understood there is insufficient cap space to also promote Biggs to a 38-man primary list, but he is a player the Swans would expect compensation for losing.

Essendon is also understood to be pursuing the 23-year-old, who played three games in 2014 and two finals in 2013.

If Biggs does not find a home by Thursdays 2pm trade deadline, he would be expected to move freely as a delisted free agent, given the Swans are unable to promote him and he can't be retained as a rookie for a fourth season.

I dont get it though

With ROK, Eski, LRT going out, there are some decent dollars.

Walsh, Lockyer and Dick were all on the main list.

So that is 6 spots, with only Lockyer and Dick on reduced.

We have committed to 3 academy players and upgrading 2 players? Surely the nett worth of those plus Biggs is less than the top 6?

must be the reduction in cola?

yeah maybe, but factor in Goodes, Richards, Shaw and maybe Pyke going next year, year after there should be close the $1m they need to lose there.

Dudge

Bottemless pit of money I say :)

Yeah but it gets reduced year by year for two of them, so we're making concessions this year already

Absolutely shattered that we lost two of my favourite reserves players in Membrey and Biggs :(

missed all of todays trade news but dont see membrey's name mentioned anywhere. Will he go to the PSD then? If we cant keep Biggs then surely we cant keep Membrey.

Yup he's gone. Saints have said that they'll use pick 1 of preseason draft on him.

In other news, who else would prefer that we kept Biggsy and that Shaw retired instead?

Toga

Membrey will go at Pick 1 in the Preseason draft to the Saints

i dont think that LRT would have been on the same money as PEbbles and Esky but surely that still gives us breathing room in the cap?

Does this mean that our nat picks will be Heeney, Hiscox, Davis and 2 rookie elevations. Then our list will be filled with rookies

Im surprised we got a R2, thought it might be a R3 for Esky

Classic. Bloody AFL love Sydney its ridiculous. Special treatment galore.

:P

God forbid the best defender in the afl gets adequate compensation!
So glad we got a Round 2 compensation pick for Esky so now we can sit there and watch as we pass on the pick

My thoughts about Reid in 2011: "Wow, this guy will be great for us. Elite potential."

My thoughts now:
